Completely toothless without Walmsley's presence and Roby there to pull the strings. If your pack play like that next week they will get eaten alive. Fwiw I expect a strong response, but you were rubbish tonight.
Take nothing away from Warrington though. Very good. This new throw caution to the wind style suits them.

| As i said Mr Thompson is not the world's best prop he's not even the best prop at Saints. He had to lead tonight, which is the bread and butter of a world class prop, and he couldn't do it. Mike Cooper, not for the first time, showed him how to do it. He may learn this in this NRL but i doubt it as he's more protein than substance.

I like Thompson, he is fearless and goes into every collision 100%. But he just isn't that big, so when a team is up in your face and you need him to do the hard yards he isn't so effective. Walmsley on the other hand is enormous and very hard to put down, he is the one that puts Saints on the front foot and off the back of that Thompson can get up a head of steam against a retreating defence and bust some tackles. They compliment each other well, but Walmsley is the more important one imo.

| Agreed. Thompson though really is the definition of over hype and lingering just above average. He will be found out in the NRL. I could name 5 (at least) better props in SL than him at the minute.

Sorry but as a neutral you're talking absolute e there.
I just don't get Cooper, never have. Can someone (who isn't a Wire fan) please tell me what I'm missing?
Well done Wire. Salford softening Saints up has obviously helped you massively.
PS. Didn't see much of tonight's game but massively impressed with Philbin when he pulled on the GB jersey. Punches well above his weight.

Did a count for you with around 30 ptb's in the 5min. To the rule as to standing up,putting the ball on the ground and playing it back with the foot - 1 to Warrington and 3 to Saints. The rest were either standing up and rolling the ball back between the legs and waving a foot at it or just rolling the ball back. Cannot recall an incorrect ptb penalty throughout the match.
I think we can now safely say there is no appetite for the refs to enforce the rule in Super League.
Will be interesting to watch the ptb's by the Roosters when they play the WCC match in a couple of weeks.

| Being a scouser I'm always pleased to see the the wools of St Helens get beat. But I suppose they lost to their fellow woolybacks in Dire who I dislike even more!
Warrington easily outplayed Stains and deserved their win. However, it won't be their year again as they simply don't have the firepower over the season to be Champions despite very much having a quality squad.
I suspect tonight will be as good as it gets for the wolves and within a month they'll return to caling for the head of Price again so they may as make the most of it. Last time the beat Saints in August they put their cue on the rack and did nothing for the rest of last season despite of their fans claiming they'd be GF winners.

| Meh - was always going to be tough away at Wire with a full team, missing so many important players even more so.
Big credit to wire though - dominant performance.

| I do love these match threads.
2 sets of fans both embarrassing them selves talking complete nonsense trying to one up each other.
Great for a laugh as a neutral.

Warrington were missing Hill and Widdop two pretty big chunks of the cap in the stand right there.

Aye, they are big players for Wire. Would still rather be missing those two than our six though (plus Percy to injury in the game).
It was a weaker team than the one that lost narrowly at London last season (which Coote/Makinson/Walmsley also missed but at least we had Knowles/Amor/Roby in that side).
More concerned about players being fit next week to get minutes before roosters than the result last night to be fair.

They did. It's arguable that they are better without Hill, he's been a liability for them since he was made captain.

Wasn't a big fan of his prior to the GB tour but he was probably our best prop on the tour.
I wonder (hope) if he becomes English again at the end of the season.

| Very good from Warrington last night but probably expected given the team Saints had out. Promising start to the season nevertheless but I would have expected them to put a lot more points on given how dominant they were and how bad Saints were.
