Neither, the player who had substituted was subsequently substituted, but not by Bailey. So Bailey was indirectly substituted.
I was one of the few people in my area of the stadium who identified why Bailey was off in the first place.

Newton's disciplinary record was also pretty good IIRC until late in his career he finally got what he deserved.
In fact, did he ever pick up a red card in top flight RL? (genuine question, I don't know the answer)

| For those claiming racism, last season Hull FC fans voted Mark Calderwood for our player of the season. Last time I checked, he's black too.
I'd hope that the headbutt attempt gets noticed when the dc review the game footage.

| Radford should have been sent to the bin and so should Bailey.
This is Rugby League not tiddlywinks, a bit of biff spices the game up, after their ten mins were up seeing them go at each other for the rest of the game would have been worth the ticket price alone.
On a side note Bailey deserved it, he shouldn't have been elbowing Radford plus he is a class 1 gobe.

| Honestly, how can people actually compare Bailey hitting Radford on the top of his head with the inside of his arm to Radford getting up and winging him 4 times as he laid on the floor?!
If every player reacted like that to a tackled player tried to shake out of the tackle, there would be 100 fights a game!
Also most people seem to be forgetting that as Radford was sent off he stayed on the pitch offering Bailey out!
Bailey should have probably been binned for trying to continue the fight as well but saying Radford's wasn't a red card is preposterous!

Since when has elbowing somebody in the head been an acceptable response to being tackled ?
It wasn't the ' inside of his arm ' , it was his elbow

It wasn't an elbow to the head. It was a cuffing to the elbow's punch.
Every player in the league flaps about similarly to Bailey did, it doesn't give the player tackling them the right to get up and lay in to them as they lay defenceless on the floor!

Spot on post! Radford was quite rightly sent off, i mean if you don't think that was a sending off, what exactly have you got to do?
Having said that, i enjoyed every bit of seeing somebody smacking the hell out of bailey. Hopefully we'll seem him do the same to Cockayne next week.

Elbowing is obviously part of the game now, like when Tomkins dropped on Myler with the elbow ages after Myler scored.

Would bet £10 that Bailey started gobbing off as soon as there was space betweem him and Radford, and he knew that nothing could happen in retaliation.

| well considering it should have only been 10 minutes, i look forward to Bailey knocking 7 shades out of Tomkins next week, swinging four unanswered punches whilst Tomkins is defenceless on the floor, it would likely take Tomkins out of the game, Bailey takes ten minutes........Jackpot
Then in the GF we can see Kylie swing four punches at a prone Leon Pryce, take him out of the game, lose Kylie for 10minutes and we can say hello to 4 in a row............
after all any other response would be totally over the top apparently

| Quote ="Omar Little"Bailey clearly isn't popular around here (except with Leeds fans) and as a result there seems to be a lot of attempting to justify Radford's stupidity.
But does anyone else get the feeling that if the roles were reversed everyone on here would be saying how it was a well deserved red-card for a cheap-shot/sh*t-house/cowardly attack on the man on the floor...
...in fact if we're being brutally honest, perhaps if Radford was black and Bailey white a lot of those sticking up for Radford might have very different opinions...'"
Well, I posted at the on the Challenge Cup final thread that Bailey was a complete c@ck for his last tackle cheap shot on Riley, not the first time he has acted in this way. Can I state for the record that I wasn’t influenced in any way by the colour of Bailey’s skin
To start a thread with the title ‘set aside your prejudices?’ is somewhat over the top for the fans of a sport that is generally regarded as one of the most inclusive in the country with a proud history being the first to break down racial barriers
As for the Bailey/Radford incident – Radford deserved his red card, Bailey’s elbows were flying around on the floor and I’m sure he deliberately targeted Radford’s head but the reaction was way over the top. Ask him now and I am sure that Radford would have preferred to stay on the pitch, smash Bailey in every tackle and win the game

| I was away and watched the match with a few others ( of various clubs ) in Blackpool, a heated debate followed.
The conclusion we reached was
1) The ref maybe just saw Radders hitting the prone Bailey
2) The ref had ample opportunity to consult with his touch judges and the fourth official
3) The ref saw the attempted head butt on Long or he needs to go to specsavers
Given the level of external input from others we found it very odd that Mr Smith took the line he did, in fact it was very odd. One player ( Radders ) was guilty of violent behaviour and was given the correct red card and one ( Bailey) was also guilty of the same offence and got nothing.
No doubt the naughty boy panel will rule this week on one player ( Radders ) with a good conduct record and one (Bailey) with a long list of offences, don't hold your breath.
Justice would be Radders S.O.S., Bailey 3 matches my opinion has nothing to do with race, colour or creed its about serial thuggery.

First post i have read on here that gets it SPOT on.
Radford should have gone for punching a man on the ground. The ref did not see the start of it and hence put the incident on report ( ie Bailey's elbowing).
What i would think is more interesting will be the disciplinary view. Bailey should get one game for the elbowing. However, Red Hall will not ban him because it will leave Leeds with three props out. He will get off with it on the grounds he was trying to kill headlice on Radfords hair.
Radford should get either a one or two match ban (taking into account his red card i would go for a one match ban).
