Wellens is OK, Briscoe is OK. Let's be honest, neither are Billy Slater and half the other full backs in the NRL so why debate it? We're screwed either way, because we simply don't have enough talent.

We are starting to produce some good potential and Richard Owen is one of them. In the next couple of years he will need to kick on otherwise he will go down the Michael Platt and Richie Mathers road.

The whole "he isnt billy slater" thing is a complete red herrring, like comparing any of our backs to the aussie backs

The aussie back line is hte Queensland back line, and the NSW backline is made to look bloody ordinary by them too. Compare the England backs to the NSW ones and its a bit more parity.

I think Jonny Lomax of Saints is potentially Britains best hope for a world class fullback in the next few years.


As for best British fullback. Its still Wellens.
Lee Smith had the potential but has decided to go to RU.

Wellens was admittedly shocking in the world cup. However in previous series he has performed admirably and won MOM awards.

Briscoe is brave as his nose shows, but lacks anything else.

Listen......if there is a young player in SL thats gonna be world class, he is already better than Paul Wellens.

Paul Wellens is a disgrace. He is so far off the pace of a first grade Rugby League player that for him to even be able to be selected in a SL team on a regular basis should make ever GB fans cry themselves to sleep at night.
