Think Hannay and Hornby will be high up the list as choices. Possibly even Peters too

I think Burgess will be right up there, leaving the Warrington job wide open for Briers.

Burgess has said he's fulfilling his 2 years at Wire. Will Briers wait another 12 months? Possibly, but who's to say Burgess won't extend his deal at Wire.

There's a lot for the club and Briers to mull over , Especially for the club to throw a lot of money for a coach on his first gig .

Burgess is already laying the foundations , Briers will have less pressure, in taking over from Burgess., who will return to Australia, not if, but when.
We are a totally 'different kettle of fish ' a polar opposite of Warrington., we need someone to change our core skills, a total reset.
I personally don't feel Briers is the right fit for us at this time, his strength is attack coaching.
In my opinion, we need someone who's forte is defence, someone who has experience from Melbourne would be ideal.

Grix could still be involved as defence coach, he’s gunna have a few more games at least to show that he can implement defensive structure, line speed, contact and trust.

Grix and Briers were at Warrington together for about six years.

He hasn’t done it up to now, he was the defence coach under Uncle Tony and we’ve shifted 50+ points regularly. Even if Smith was the malaise, Grix should have shown more. Too much public speculation for my liking and will surely have a bearing on any coach’s view of the sick man of Super League, as I said earlier, fan speculation and so called pundits conspiracy theories really aren’t helping the situation.

It won't happen, but Briers would be an exciting and credible appointment.

Do we really know Briers’ style? Could be really safe rather than expansive

I get that we all want to play an expensive and entertaining style of rugby but we need to sort the defence, everything on a rugby field needs to be built on defence, I'd take a year or 2 of slightly dull rugby if it meant installing that toughness and resilience the top teams have when defending. Once that's sorted then we can build our attack.

Don't forgot we have another assistant coach to come in too.
