| This campaign from so called 'rugby league' fans against Stevo is becoming bullying to the extreme and completely undeserved for a guy that has done so much and continues to do so much for our sport.

It is by far the most annoying thing that they need to sort out.

Spot on. Bumped into him yesterday and I really can't speak highly enough of him. He has done a hell of a lot for the game we love including a lot of charity work. His museum was fantastic and he always makes time to chat with supporters and pose for pictures. The man lived and breathes rugby league and it is sad to see such vitriol week in week out.
Yesterday I was joined by a group of southerners for what was their first game of rugby league. Sam Tomkins could have fallen over them and they'd have been none the wiser yet they immediately recognised Stevo. "Was that the bloke off Sky Sports, he's a legend!" We will miss him a lot more than folk realise and as I have been saying for years I am amazed that he is still yet to receive recognition from HM.

I've had the pleasure of Stevo's company on numerous occasions and agree he is 100% a top bloke and a credit to our game - however, this doesn't alter the fact that the commentary aspect of sky's coverage should be better.

| You cant blame him really though I mean he really loves the game and no matter how annoying he gets he will stick up for the game no matter what. Also he is the president of my club and he is a really nice bloke and is really interested in the junior game as well. But I don't think he is the best commentator around He should just stick to doing backchat because that show really does suit him IMO.

| Who care's if he's a "top bloke". I don't want to listen to the same cut, copy and paste commentary any more.
He's become a parody and doesn't even have the appeal of a Murray Walker.
No-one owes him a living.

| Stevo is indeed a top bloke, a legend in the game and a very interesting conversationalist. None of the above should count for anything at all though as to whether he keeps his Sky pundit job The ONLY criterion should be whether he's any good at it. And sadly he has become a total parody. "Cut'n'paste' is spot on, and it just grates.

| Stevo may be a great bloke, done alot for the game yadda yadda yadda, BUT, he's a commentator and in that capacity he's become awful. He has no understanding of the modern game, no insight and struggles to actually call the game inbetween tedius quibbles with hemmings and rolling off his catchphrases. You could play a tape recording of his cliches and not know the difference. People saying we'll miss him, well if it get's that bad someone can create a stevo soundboard to use during games and we'll never know he's gone.
It's time he enjoyed his well earned retirement and removed himself from our TV screens.

| Would we miss him.
You know when you get up in the morning, go to work, graft away (under scrutiny from your superiors) all to pay the mortagage and put food on the table? Well, next time you're hard at work just think - Stevo actually gets paid, as in they give him money, to do what he does and say what he does (not a small wedge either, I wager). Its ridiculous. He's terrible.

Scored a World Cup winning try, led Dewsbury to a Championship win, led the way for Brits to play down under with a record breaking transfer, introduced the concept of set plays to Australia, converted a train into a museum and took it all round Australia, helped countless amateur clubs and charities, opened a museum in the George Hotel out of his own pocket all just off the top of my head. Is that enough for you?

Fantastic stuff, for which he should be applauded and congratulated.
It has absolutely no bearing on his role as a commentator though - he's terrible at it, and getting worse; he should be eased out to Backchat and make room for someone who can actually do the job.

All of that is in your subjective opinion. Myself and many others enjoy listening to him call games, whilst plenty more will simply be indifferent.
As I said on one of the many tedious Stevo threads a couple of weeks ago, other things in life is far too important- don't wind yourself up by letting a voice on the telly upset you.

Just a couple of things - 1st of all, ask a blind viewer their opinion of the 'sky commentary', I think you'll find they will not have much positive to say about the standard of commentary, and 'a voice on the telly' is slightly more important to them...
Secondly, do a straw poll of RL fans and see what the majority think, because from my experience of the countless threads on here, the comments at games, conversations in the pub, the lads I play rugby with, the pro-players I know, the pro-players on twitter, hell, even the Mrs who knows bugger all, the overriding feedback is that the Sky commentary team, and in the main Eddie and Stevo are a massive negative....
So whilst you 'and others' might enjoy his calling of games, I'd suggest you 'and others' are in the minority.
Stevo is a top bloke, and couldn't meet a more passionate fan and backer of RL, but that has no bearing on his ability to commentate...

| Most people I meet love Stevo and enjoy his eccentricity. It seems to be only these people on RL forums and groups that spread vitriol about him.
As I said, you'll all miss him when he is replaced with some faceless, generic 'pundit'.

So to summarise - it seems that only the people who are subjected to his inane ramblings week in week out whilst spectating the sport they enjoy are unhappy with him; those same people then unfairly express that view on internet forums dedicated to talking about the sport they spectate.
It's fine to love Stevo and his eccentricity - I just don't see why that, or his past achievements, give him a divine right to spoil the weekly telecast; I don't mind him on Backchat - it suits his curmudgeonly outspokenness and allows him to be diluted by more reasonable voices - but he is entirely unsuited to co-front the sport on an international platform. In my subjective opinion.

No, it just reminds me that rugby league 'fans' want to moan about every last thing in the game. Referees, commentators, governing bodies, players, teams, stadiums...
I genuinely don't see why anyone has a problem. Stevo gives opinions , yes, but mostly about the game itself- what is wrong with that? Isn't he allowed to say anything, or just the generic lines aimed at pleasing every fan of every club?

Never mind 8 pages, there have been at least 8 topics posted about Stevo since the season started. It's becoming something of an RLFans tradition to denigrate the man every weekend...

| Andrew Voss is subject to a massive rlfans love in, but had Stevo spent all the World Cup banging on about what he had eaten that day everyone would say it was proof that he is a joke.
I'd give it about 12 months before Voss wound me up in the same way Stevo does, just in an Australian accent.

When he retires he will be off our screens anyway, because he will have gone back "home" to Australia.

| I just think we prefer the Aussie accent rather than the northern one gives the opinions more gravitas or maybe we are just unfairly comparing everyone to Rab Warren.
