It really is about time. You can smell the jealousy and bitterness on this forum at times. I know everyone likes to have a laugh at Warrington and their lack of acheivements. Now we are finally getting there or thereabouts and some of the old order don't like it.

Afraid thats incorrect - not sure how you work that out - the opposite seems more obvious. Gleeson, Johnson and Reardon were established GB internationals when they signed and Rau was one of the top NRL props. Those 4 were collectively on significantly more than Mathers, Atkins, Myler (those 2 are promising - hardly top internationals - yet) and Solomona who has come for less than you might expect. We probably have plenty left over yet..........watch this space

Exactly, when we signed those players their agents could push us for more money as for 3 of them they were leaving clubs where they had won honours plus Rauhihi was an international prop. We were inconsistent in the league and kept getting knocked out of the cup in the Quarter Finals, and so really needed to improve the squad and therefore might not have negotiated hard.

In these cases Myler and Atkins haven't won honours and are coming into a club that has just won so we were probably able to negotiate a bit as well, having a coach like Tony Smith also helps in attracting talent to the club. Solomona has been injured for most of this season and so won't be on a big guaranteed wage and probably is going off bonus if he plays.

Also if the possibility of trophies is higher clubs are more likely to be able to negotiate a lower wage but put a bit more on the bonus side instead.

All these signings do in my eyes is show that the Warrington development scheme is not as effective as it should be!

This applies to all the other clubs as well to varying degrees.

I'm not against transfers etc, it's part of normal business life but I have always thought that a "small" investment in training and development of your own staff payed off handsomely in the long run!

Our junior setup isn't as sharp as it should be, but it is getting there. We have invested in it, by bringing over the Academy/Reserves chap from Leeds; John Bastian.

Well if the club can develop some of the players similar to Leeds then the investment should pay off both for Warrington and the game as a whole I hope.

It's just that in my mind the money spent on overseas players would improve training and development so much more than money going out of the game here.

On the plus side, the "we're a massive club - who are you?" arrogance that Wire fans have developed since the HJ was erected has led to Warrington being an easy club to dislike, even without any success.

Now you've won a trophy and poached some talent, the additional denigration shouldn't be anything your bunch can't handle.

You get a feeling sometimes, you hear what players are on, hell, sometimes they announce it in the media.

You do the sums and, well, it just doesn't add up really.

Well, the sums won't add up will they - especially if you're relying on what "you've heard" or what's been written in a crappy tabloid.

When I say they dont add up, I mean, if you halved what they pay the players in their squad, maybe they would just come under the cap.

Considering that Matt King is probably the highest earning Australian player in the entire game....its very easy to see how none of it works out.

Most sensible Wire fans are not arrogant at all and most Salford fans realise that Warrington are a well supported financially sound club that has aspirations of winning the title.

I have not met one fan in 'real' life that say they dislike Warrington. Apart from a couple of Widnes fans but they don't count because no has even heard of them.
