Ha ha ha I'm not stressed mate, I'm over the moon, I have seen the club I love make out standing progress over the last four years and it's more than I expected in my wildest dreams. In fact the person who is rattled is you, not that any one expects you to admit it. As for too many poor teams, you may have a point that the comp has been diluted, but given that option, the likes of Leeds and Saints (even playing poorly, as you have stressed) should be whooping ass all over the place. Fact is, they aren't, hence the fact the SL is slowly but surely evening out.

Would I bet against Leeds and Saints going all the way in the play off's? No, and nor me or any one else on this thread so far has stated other wise. The fact is, the other teams have to be in it to win it, so playing well from March to August is important!

To summarise, all your points, apart from having a top eight diluting the comp are horse .

I'm unsure as to how I'm rattled. My team (reigning Champions) won tonight, undeservedly so against a Castleford side giving it their all. Two key Leeds players were lost in the first half, we had a boat load of defending to do, and still got 2 points. Which kind of proves my point, but I digress....

No, its a good thing that its levelled up - but from where I'm standing (or sitting) the quality is reducing. Teams aren't coming up to Leeds and Saints' level - thats my point. These teams are coming down. Super League was better to watch (in my opinion) in 2002 for example than it is now, and thats coming from a Leeds fan that saw his side win the league for the first time in 2004 - after a 32 year wait. Maybe its because I was waiting for a league win that made it so intense. I'm not sure.



But my point remains the same. Leeds could be shocking from March to August but still make the playoffs. Same applies to Hull KR. Its not a real achievement to make the top 8!

As a Hull KR supporter since the late 80's (when i was finally old enough to appreciate the game) we were a team languishing in the bottom half of the Stones Bitter Championship. In 1994 (our relegation season) I was mascot for the Wigan game where we won 21-10 yet later that season we accepted our doom to the lower division. This was the demise of Hull KR and for years we struggled, even ended up in the 3rd division. Here, I was one of 1,500 faithful supporters (sometimes less) who travelled the country in numbers to support our lowly placed team built with ex Hull FC reserve graders and amateur players who fancied a shot at Semi-Pro.

Gradually we improved and then in 1997 (not sure?) we met Hull FC at Boothferry Park and beat them thanks to a Mike Fletcher try in the dying minutes. Not long after, Gateshead Thunder were absolved in a merger with Hull FC and formed Hull Sharks. The talent pool in the city was bound to swing the way of the black n whites.

Still plodding on and still with attendances of 1500-2000 people we endured many trips to delapidated grounds and froze to death in the cold of Cumbria.

So when Steve Linnane arrived as coach and added a 'team mentality' things looked up. Sadly Steve left the club and in came Martin Hall and Mal Reilly. Martin Hall appeared a good coach but Mal Reilly was old school, good in his day but not so now. We battled hard, made a few key signatures. Attendances began to rise the more success we had and Harvey Howard became the coach of a sleeping giant. He brought in Makali Aizue who still plays, the only player left from the Howard era. James Webster joined and was one of Howards biggest captures. In fact it was Webster, after the sacking of Howard, that led the Robins to the Northern Rail Cup Final at Blackpool in 2005. Watching that day was the newly appointed Justin Morgan.

Under Morgan we made the playoffs that year (with Howards team) and lost heavily to Halifax proving Morgans theory that we weren't ready for Super League yet. We made countless signings with Morgan in charge and a board that had restructured the finances and were now making money.

Morgan built a squad with a budget that wouldn't break the bank. We had a captain and leader whom we built a team around. A young Leeds lad with potential was his half back partner and was getting better with age (scott murrell). We dominated the league and even managed to give a few youngsters a couple of games at the risk of defeat (which did happen).

So when attendances hit 3,000 we were excited, we'd reached Super League and, being one of those 1,500 supporters who followed the club through thick and thin and painted the stadium voluntarily because the club didn't have the funds to stretch that far, it felt oh so good to be in the top division.

To survive in our first season defied the odds, as we were told so often - "The promoted team generally gets relegated."

So after 10 wins in our debut season and surviving the drop we then kicked on and missed out on the playoffs by one league position. Now, in only our third year, still with recent memories of National League rugby, we sit proudly top of the table. Even if only for one night!

We've played poorly, been nowhere near our best and yet clawed some results. So for those wanting a top 6 finish its not being modest, its wanting progression and no matter what is said, it will be progression.

No team in Super League can say they have been their best on a weekly basis. You openly admit Leeds have been shocking, but not in every game. Quite simply teams are not allowing you to play, something you've been able to do without worry in the last few years. I remember one night at Craven Park back in 2007 when we didn't allow you to play. It wasn''t a case of you turning up expecting to win, we just didn't allow you to.

It's the arrogance of thinking because you don't win you're poor that people find offensive. Maybe its because the other team was good?

If anything mirrors Hull City with Hull KR it was the 2007 season. Newly promoted, good start and then we were finishing the season in a relegation scrap. Those days have gone, we are stronger and whether you like it or not we will be in the mix come September. I for one hope Leeds and Saints turn up expecting to win, for they will be the ones to fall.

If Hull KR can keep this form up to the end of the season and the playoffs, you have to say they are contenders for the GF. Personally, I expect them to tail off a bit and start dropping points.

Well done to Hull KR, no matter how you look at it they are having a fantastic season especially considering its only their 3rd season back in Super League . I hope that come tonight they are back down to 2nd, but even that is an achievement for them and although I can understand some of the points made by those trying to put them down the Hull KR fans deserve to be happy about the season they have had so far and they deserve the chance to enjoy it.

Exactly. Rovers fans have a sense of perspective, and are enjoying this for what it is. Mind you, at least you never had the full downward slide to experience too - it all felt even worse when you'd had your first season ticket as a kid in 1982, so had been given the distinct impression that winning the championship was the natural order of things! (Probably like being a young Saints fan now, or that daft Leeds bloke on this thread).

Soon got that idea knocked out of my head mind... maybe one day that'll happen to some of the Saints, Leeds (and, amazingly...) Wigan fans who think that recent success gives you a god-given right for continuous glory. Sport isn't like that.

I hope they don't, and don't see any reason why they should! I fully expect to see them reach the semis From there it's a coin toss. So good luck to them all, they have had some tough times over the last decade, and have some of the best fans I've met. It's good to see them doing well, and it's great for the game that there's another team in the mix.

KR should rightfully enjoy this moment and they may even be enjoying the 'moment' for a hell of a lot longer.

I would swap HKR's position with Quins(my team) thats for sure.....and we are having a good season!

Good on them and refreshing to see new faces in the mix. I think Hudds will be in there as well.

Saints and Leeds may not be playing as well as they have in the past but HKR and Hudds have improved massively-as have others

Full credit to HKR, Morgan had the stones to mae a prediction and he may trun out to be correct.

If RescuedBlue doesn't fancy our chances or rate our squad, than fine. However we finish the season isn't going to depend on anyone's opinion on here. So there's no need to argue to the death about it.

Justin Morgan is dead right when he says no one remembers who's top until the league is finished, and like I said in my earlier post, I'm happier with the two points at this stage than the fact we top the table for a few hours.

However, I disagree with RescuedBlue's opinions that the league is full of 'poor' sides, 'finishing top 4 is no great achievement' & results at this stage 'don't really matter'



Leeds and Saints haven't been as good this year, but maybe thats because others are challenging them a bit more and making life a bit more difficult. I'm not just talking about us, but others especially Cas and Huddersfield have been superb this year. You can't have a more even league and still expect certain teams to wipe the floor with everyone.

I don't think Leeds and Saints can 'just turn up' and win games like they could the last few years. We 'just turned up' against Wire away and Hudds at home and were deservedly well beaten, Hudds fans will say the same about their game with Hull etc. Leeds and Saints are still the best two sides, but they now have to work for 80 minutes to maintain that.

fair play to HKR, they are where they are on merit.
its great to see the likes of hull kr,huddersfield,quins, wakey scrapping it out at the top while the big spending,so called big clubs like wire,wigan and the cattle slug it out at the bottom end

great to see more teams battling it out at the top. this season especially i think leeds and saints are suffering from the world cup. most players had a 3 week pre season at tops and i think fatigue will get worse as the season goes on

What? in the sense that they gave it their all

in the fact they only had 3 weeks pre season and every coach will tell you that is the most important time for fitness.
