That's the problem I have though, I love a bit of biff hate bur cannot stand when referees give reds for some biff.
But I want consistency, fed up of seeing certain untouchable elite players being let off, and other players being given bans for identical offences.

I agree, consistency is what's needed for sure. The rfl need to stop attacking players who defend themselves, and ban the players who start it.

No they don't; that's regressive and impossible to manage - you're advocating implementing marshal law on the pitch, which is a massive leap, even to justify Peacock's preferential treatment by the beak.

| So Liam Farrell dropping on with the elbows, sticking a knee into a tackled player then trying to hit him with a right hook isn't enough provocation for Justin Poore to throw one single solitary punch in retaliation?
Poore got a fine and a 3 match Ban for far far less than what Peacock did!

| Odd if players are unable to control themselves in the heat of the moment that there have been virtually no punches thrown since the NRL announced all punches would result in harsh treatment following Gallen's ridiculous efforts in Orign last year. We've seen quite a few blow ups where players have clearly managed to restrain themselves from actually throwing a punch.

Just so we're clear, we're talking about the Justin Poore that has been cited for 17 incidents in just two years, and not some other Justin Poore, right?

But then we don't get to see an all-in 26 player swing fest.

Sorry, I should perhaps explain myself. When I say "swing fest" I don't mean middle class couples meeting up and putting their car keys in a bowl.

| I was very surprised JP was able to avoid missing a game. Other players have been banned after reacting to provocation. It's alos surprising that the provocation he was subject to was deemed sin bin sufficient by the disciplinary panel.
Jay pitts can consider himself harshly treated relative to Willie Isa & Dom Crosby who have been 3rd man in to tackles and clearly lifted players into dangerous positions and escaped any punishments.

| No he doesn't; like everyone else in Leeds colours, he's justifying that a player who came up swinging from a tackle wasn't banned, when many others throughout the season have been; I wasn't aware that the RFL were operating a biff pass system, whereby veteran players are allowed to make their own judgements about whether a tackle is too rough and mete out summary justice on the field.
He deems it a 'good' panel, because he got what he wanted; whereas earlier in the day, JP deemed it 'farcical.' It seems that a bit of profile, some media work and the odd Twitter tantrum is all it takes to get what you want at Red Hall.

That's not really what BM said though was it, he said he thought the panel got it wrong.
And so what if JP said something different, I never mentioned him did I?

| You will find Neil Hudgell disagree, even going so far as accepting no contradiction in specifically the Poore and Carney cases.
'Previous' is part of the disciplinary process. Im not sure why its shocking, or thought of as unfair, or for some reason biased, that the committee will look differently on a Prop with a relatively outstanding disciplinary record taking a lot of , what if we were being kind, we would call provocation, than they would a Prop with an absolutely terrible record doing the same thing.

| Given the RFL's recent clampdown on punching I'm very surprised he didn't end up with a ban. I'm well aware he was provoked, that kind of niggely rough stuff goes on in every game. The Leigh player got his punishment in the form of a yellow card which is more than most aggressors get. Peacock simply has to keep his cool, he didn't and we all saw the result. As far as I can remember EVERY other player who has thrown successive punches in the last few years has been banned. I think 1 match in this case would have been fair given a pretty good disciplinary record.
The fact he didn't enter an EGP does make me suspicious he knew in advance what was coming.

It's not a claim, I just think it raises a suspicion. If you look at virtually every other case of punching the player, where eligible has entered an EGP to get a reduced suspension.

He may have been advised that players in the past with clean records get a lenient sentence and took his chance. I question 'why' he has never been banned at 36 and as a forward, he has been involved in a lot of 'biff' in his day.

What's that got to do with the Farrell incident?
Just so we're clear this is the same Justin Poore who had never been red carded or banned during a long NRL career including SoO appearances.
Also, the vast majority, and by that I mean almost all, of the cited incidents happened after the Farrell incident so even if you're post had any validity, which it doesn't, none of that would have affected the outcome of of the disciplinary panel who banned him for the punch on Farrell.
So how come Jamie Peacock, who has a track record of throwing punches, can get away with throwing 4 or 5 punches at a man half his size, on National TV and not pick up a ban?
While we're at it how come the homophobic abuse and foul language Peacock used in the Warrington game, clearly picked up by the cameras, has been conveniently ignored by all?
