I think the mic thing might just have to be looked at after we heard Josh Weedon telling the ref to f off last night
So much for the 'Respect' campaign

He did say that lol. He also told Fax players after they complained Greenwood had been taken out in the air - "listen, it's a contact sport".
Us Wigan fans noted he didn't hear the hooter at half time just like Silverwood last week. So that's two "quiet" hooters Mr Cummings!

| After 3 years of televised matches now the question will soon need to be asked if there is any benifits to having the 2 nd tier televised
On average I would guess that the attendances at these matches is down on what they would be if played at the weekend
So that leaves the question , are the clubs seeing any benifit either from increased sponsorship/investment interest by this coverage ?
If the answer is no then perhaps it is time to look at a change of format to a highlights programme instead of a single live game

But as I'm not going to plough through them all I'm making a guess based on what I have seen in recent weeks
The gate at Leigh verses Widnes was definatley down on previous years , yes both clubs are not at the top fighting for promotion so that may have an impact
But looking at some of the other matches they dont seem to be breaking any pots especially when the clubs normally give out 200 family tickets allowing a potential 800 people in for free
Half way through our 3 rd year of televised matches I cannot see any real benifits from the coverage from the competition or the clubs point of view
If you can see different please give your opinion , that is what these boards are for after all arent they

| I'm sure I also heard the ref say 'I can see why you play rugby and not football' - or words to that effect. Perhaps he's looking for a stand up comic spot somewhere.

Nope – if you want to argue that the costs of televising games in the Championship, in terms of effect on attendances, outways the benefits: the burden falls on you to provide the evidence (it is, as pointed out, available and easy to gather).
But you can't seriously expect anyone to engage with you if all you offer as supporting evidence to back up your point is guesses and supposition.
Personally, I've no idea what the effect is on crowds (either generally or at the televised games themselves) or finances of clubs. But then, I'm not the one arguing for an end to televised games.

Discussion doesn't neccessarily have to be or lead to argument
I'm not saying end the televised games , I'm asking if they are of benifit and if not then maybe a different option would be better
If you dont want to contribute dont , nobody is forcing you

| I think most if not all clubs have their biggest attendances in front of Sky cameras. OK, there may be a lot of free tickets issued, but nonetheless, bigger crowds attend.

| I guess it depends on each circumstance as to wether or not they are a benefit to the clubs. Just one example when Barrows game last year was televised against Batley it resulted in one of our largest crowds of the season. In saying that perhaps the fact that Batley wernt ripping trees up in NL1 and we were going well in NL2 might have had a bearing on that but I feel the appearance of the sky cameras somewhere where they have not been before had a large bearing on that attendance.
Starbug cites Widnes and Leigh not being in line for promotion as the reason the crowd at that televised game was perhaps down on previous years, he could be right. I would imagine its got more to do with Leigh being very stop-start this year more than any other factor, but thats just my opinion.

| I have a scientific fact to declare; I had an initial theory, have tried it out in at least two different locations in the town, and by throwing caution to the wind with the budget I observed the theory to be correct on almost every occasion.....
[iThe number of people who leave the pub 5 minutes before a non televised game is greater than the number of people who do not leave said pub for a televised one.[/i

| On a similar discussion on the fax board this was quoted
Quote A quote from last weekends edition of Game On!:
"From the eight Co-operative Championship games that have appeared on Sky Sports this season, six of the clubs have reported their highest attendance figures of their 2009 campaign" '"
Which would lead you to see this as a positive , except quite a few of those matches have been local derbies Widnes/Leigh , Leigh/Widnes , Fev/Fax , Donny/Eagles which you would expect to be those clubs best attendances
Others such as Fax/Widnes and Haven/Widnes would also be expected to be those clubs biggest ' draws ' so far
