It is a shame. A club on the brink of 'liquidation' is a legitimate topic for the VT. Likewise a club touting arond its players earlier in the season. So too is the potential embarrassment for a Head coach making conflicting statements to the press.

It is a very good example of several posters who have nothing to say about RL and nothing to say about their club being taken to the High Court by HMRC. This appearance in the High court is bad for our game in general. Sadly some posters have nothing of substance to say.

What puts the game in a bad light more?. A club willing to repay their debts or the RFL bending the rules to keep the birthplace of rugby league in the top division and also merging them to stop them going bust?

Which rule was bent by the RFL?

I know ESL/RFL had rules about whether certain teams could /could not be promoted (Based on facilities and finance) and these continued up to the franchise. You may not have liked the rules, perhaps you should take it up with the RFL? I am sure the RFL never merged anyone. Though all SL agreed to the concept of mergers - including wakey. You are right that there was a danger of the eagles going bust as a SL team, but not the Giants.

A bad light would be a club taken to court for not paying players or going into a CVA and having many suppliers get only pennies in the pound for their services.

Im disappointed super league europe wasted £2.5 million on failed mergers.

Their money, their choice. All parties agreed. Outsiders may not like it but no rules broken.

Players not getting paid, creditors getting pennies in the pound meant parties entering an agreement were stuffed.

I wouldn't called it failed as two clubs still continue to play in the super league, shame the other two have been forgotten

Your comment about a cream cake is predictably inane.

The tax authorities often give businesses fairly long periods of time to pay up. 84 days is a short timescale. This substantial 'debt' was run up in a season when the club finished 5th and had money from a a share issue and large transfer fees. With Hull, Warrington and Wigan (coach) strengthening it will be hard to maintain 5th, it is unlikey that another share offer will be made and the transfer fees option is diminishing. A better financial year is a challenge. Thankfully you have Ted to keep you going.

Not aware of the full facts,regarding which tax year they have come from,therefore the unpaid taxes are not necessarily from this season.
The debt could have been run up last season,it could have come from counting back over a few seasons.

It certainly appears that the monies became payable this season,but as to what period they were run up over --- who knows.
