I think if we was to bring in an inexperienced coach McDermott could be a good choice as an assistant, as stated above he's maybe the sort of hard faced, take no crap character the squad needs.

Doubt he leaves his role as assistant coach at Newcastle to be assistant coach at Hull.

I can't see that been true, particularly when you see who writr it.

Judging by the article in todays HDM, Wilkin was saying it was a done deal with Rowley agreeing to be the next Hull Coach. So seems to me that it could well be Salford that were the ones that've stopped the deal for Rowley being completed.
Still not sure that it's definitely over to be honest as just seems very much a repeat of the Dupree situation.
Maybe Salford themselves are gambling on Leeds joining us very shortly for a new Head Coach to up the price?

We can't go from Rowley (young, with an exciting and attractive brand of Rugby), to a dinosaur like McDermott. Myler said in the interview that we need to decide as a club what we want our style of play to be, what does a Hull FC full back, number 7 etc. look like. Changing drastic course between those 2 coaching options goes against Myler's interview

Was shocked to see that McDermott is only 5 years older than Rowley! Poor Brian’s paper round must’ve been in Chernobyl.

It’s a very tricky time to be appointing a coach, it looks inevitable that Leeds will be sacking Rohan in the near future, and let’s be right, if Leeds are Hull come calling, Leeds is the more glamorous option.

That been said, I think it would be wise at this stage to not rush into a second option, there were 3 names at the time shortlisted, so who knows who the other two are.

It’s been stressed how vital it is we get this appointment right, if it means biding our time and having a couple rejections along the way then so be it. Grix has been told that the job is his till end of the year, maybe that is telling that the hunt for a new coach may take longer than the 2-3 weeks we’d originally hoped for.

The way I see it is if your gonna take a chance on an unknown quantity then just stick with Grix. He could be the next big thing but if we don't try we'll never know. Just give him proper support with a top backroom. This club needs a total restart and I think Grix could be the man personally

Slow news day today. Mind you there's always a chance of a 6pm story I suppose.

I know it's difficult these days to control modern-day media (in all its forms!) but if there's one thing we should have learned these past few days, then it's having our search for a coach being played out in front of everyone is probably not going to look good for us.

Being linked with a succession of high profile names who then each turn us down one by one, until we end up appointing someone from the championship, won't be a good look for us!

You only have to look at the ever expanding list of names that we are all throwing around on here to see how out of hand this could all become!! Think Myler may need to be a touch circumspect as he attempts to navigate his way around his first major appointment!!
