Very sad 3 weeks for Wakefield who are now 6 points from bottom.

Oh come on they clearly are. However all things considered they are not that far off. Not a bad effort from them and I don’t think their season is over just yet.

Tbh the only game(s) you can even remotely see Leigh winning are:

Salford - 19th August, but possibly Leigh will be all but relegated by then anyway
Wakefield/Hull KR - September 5th/9th if those teams aren't fighting for play-offs

Hopefully whoever comes up from the Championship is a bit more prepared - Leigh were on a hiding to nothing trying to assemble a SL squad, coaches, etc. in the height of COVID after barely playing last year.


Wakey are looking (more) decent now though, can see them picking up a few more wins in June and July.

Wakefield never looked a million miles away when they went through that losing run. Sure enough they start getting players back and they’re moving in the right direction.

From what I’ve seen of Leigh they’re similar. Maybe a player or two off a winning run.

Plus there’s still plenty of time for someone else to get drawn into a relegation scrap. Huddersfield or even Hull KR or Cas if they lose a few players to injury

Leigh had a real good dig yesterday and if they can get something close to their first 17 on the field, they should win a few games.

For clubs like Leigh and Wakefield home advantage makes a huge difference. Imho it’s no coincidence that Trinity have won our last three games in front of a partisan crowd at BV.

The true measure of our progress will come next week against Warrington away, I don’t expect a win if I’m honest.

No but Wakefield were appalling in 2015. They lost 20 out of 23 league games and were accused of not even trying at one point when they lost 80-0 at Warrington.

Crowds slowly fell and by the end of the season they returned an average of only 4,000.

They were accused of saving it all for the relegation play offs, and they did save their best to see off Bradford Bulls and have them relegated when everyone inc Wakey fans said Wakey actually really deserved to go down.....

Had Bradford won the MPG, then Trinity would have "deserved" to go down.

It didn’t relegate Bradford we were already in the championship.

When Danny Addy stepped up to take that penalty you had hope but tbh at no point did Wakefield look like losing. There was a difference between the two and you could see it.

I will admit to being very worried when you got the penalty.
Had that gone over, things may have been different.

The whole concept of "forced" last day deciders was wrong.
The Wakey v Cas game was a "freak" fixture and while fully accepting the excitement and increased press exposure.
Those fixtures were awful and difficult for the fans and more importantly, the clubs, to deal with.

Having been at both of those games, there was little pleasure in the games, just utter relief when they were over.

As I said, thank goodness they have been consigned to the bin.

It was the system that was at fault here, not Trinity.
Every minute did NOT matter, it was a hair brained structure, culminating in a forced last day decider. Wrong, not neccessary and rightly consigned to the annals of history.

I don't think it was a case of not trying, we were just awful and were it not for the contrived league structure we would've gone down and Leigh would've come up.
