Oh you mean the defensive machine Fouad Yaha? Don't make me laugh, Stevie Wonder could score past him.

| Quote ="Shifty Cat"icon_eek.gif I would hope he has got some acrobatic tries because every decent SL winger should have that skill in their nal, but the fact according to you he's only scored about half a dozen in around 170 games, tells you something. As for him being the first, care to back it up with anything.
Johnstone scored about half a dozen acrobatic tries in his first full season, for what it's worth.
What also tells you something is that Makinson's scored about 100 tries in those 170ish games, whereas Johnstone (playing in a poorer side) has about 46 in 57 games.
Anyway, if you're also happy with his record, which in the last 56 games he's scored just 15 tries, which is the last 2 years and this so far,
.
As for well that's like your opinion dude and picking that one ut is a bit strange as it isn't even one of his best if your talking about that interception try. Compare Makinson's against Johnstone's v Huddersfield 2016. You know the one that he went about 98 meters and used his footwork and strength to get past 3 defenders then pushed the 4th one off before outsprinting any cover. Makinson's one is a great try but in comparison, he only had one person even try to tackle him.'"
Having watched some of his tries I’ve probably been harsh, he’s probably scored closer to 15 acrobatic tries (the first being against a Leeds in 2012) but he rarely scores a walk in. His tries are of much higher quality than Johnstones. There’s no way you can possibly use how many tries they’ve scored to back up your argument, the amount of tries wingers score is based on the service they get and the way their team plays. It’s well known we’ve not played very expansive stuff over the past 6 years or so and Makinson (and the right side in general) hardly gets any ball. Makinson is better in every aspect except speed.

Have you been drinking
Tey watching Johnstones highlight reel on a certain video sharing site, he can fly.
You say Makinson lacks speed, the one attribute that cannot be taught.
Btw, I'm not knocking Makinson, he's a decent player but, regarding Johnstone, you need help.

| Comparing Makinson to Johnstone is daft anyway. Makinson has four years experience on Johnstone, who missed the large part of last season due to a horrific ACL injury. Yet out of the two who has the greater try to game ratio?

They play in the same position and Makinson has broke his leg and had an ACL injury so that’s a pile of rubbish and you clearly don’t know what you’re on about.

Have done and Makinsons is more impressive. I’m not saying Johnstone is bad but he’s not as good as Makinson and he’s nowhere near as good as some people like to make out. He got exposed against Salford the other week, I’d hate to see him up against top players.

| I apologise to readers for initially limiting the Thomas candidates for replacing Ryan Hall to Thomas Lineham and Thomas Johnstone.
Obviously there are also two other distinguished English Thomases playing on the wing: Thomas Makinson and Thomas Marshall will also have to be considered as replacements for Ryan Hall.

Nah he's never done the goods against top players, like say the two current England wingers.
On your other point before about not using scoring stats, yes I know teams may play more one way or the other, or even have a different style but come on Makinson hasn't had a decent season since 2015 and no matter which way a team plays, 15 tries in 56 games speaks volumes. Especially about a winger from Saints who are usually near the top of the table.
As for the only thing Johnstone has on Makinson is speed, yeah that and he's stronger, bigger, better step off both feet, makes more meters bringing the ball out of his own 20-meter line after a kick and contrary to what you and fake Frenchman says has a good defense.
He got exposed against Salford hey, you cling to that one mistake as much as you can fella, it's not as if Makinson and even better players than both haven't made mistakes before and far worse ones.
On this.
Quote They play in the same position and Makinson has broke his leg and had an ACL injury so that’s a pile of rubbish and you clearly don’t know what you’re on about.'"
Yes, Makinson has 4 years more experience on him and is 4 years older, playing around 110 more games. So are you saying that you don't get more experienced and therefore become a better player the more games you play and also a player generally hits his peak form from around his mid 20's? So how is he wrong?
it's like if pundits and fans heap praise on Johnstone, which includes the current England Coach, some fans of other teams have to go completely the other way about him. I wouldn't mind if myself or others had ripped into Makinson either, I said he's a good SL winger, as have others. But imo his form his way down on that of 2014/15 say. I know the lad's been unlucky with injuries. But ateotd we're comparing players as they are now, not what they were.
It's not as if anyone's saying Johnstone's the absolute finished article. Is there any player in SL that can't improve areas of their game. Plus no one's said he's the only winger around certain to play for England/GB in the future, but to come out with the things you have, you're either lacking in RL knowledge and wuming.
Anyway at least one of the better posters from Wigan spotted what you were about.
Quote Clearly he’s on the wind up (about Johnstone) whereas myself and others who’ve mentioned potential wing options haven’t been. '"

Sorry, I was confusing two Wigan wingers -- Thomas Davies and Liam Marshall. The correct answer is Thomas Davies.
[iThomas Marshall[/i is a rugby union player for Gloucester, who also plays on the wing at times.

| Dom Manfredi when he was fit the other year is the most exciting and good quality young winger I’ve ever seen.
It’ll be interesting when he comes back how good he remains to be, he’s had a hell of a long time out.

He wouldn’t have been top try scorer anywhere else. Cas’s great play to set up their left winger year after year shows it’s not the individuals that play there that we should get excited about.
