| As for O'Loughlin - meh. Personally I think a 2 game ban would've been the correct punishment but I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist over 1 game. The far bigger punishment is the red card itself, so well done to the ref.

| Quote ="Ferocious Aardvark"The bollox being talked here is almost total.
If you want to campaign against the recommended punishments then that is a different story. Th disciplinary panels have to use the recommended guidelines and work from there, end of.
In theis case the recommended is 2-3 games. No card in 15 years is as good as it gets so FFS if he can't get credit for that, then who can? And what is the point of keeping your nose clean if you get no credit when eventually you are up before the beaks?
What was the credit? Well, the recommended ban is 2-3 so normal cases COULD get a 2 match ban. He got, effectively, a 1 1/2 match ban (the stage of the game was rightly taken into account) and so that is the extent of the leniency. Half a match.
Hard to take any major issue with it unless you are incapable of looking at it dispassionately.
I personally don't like the bloke, though undoubtedly he has talent and leadership, as I've always had him down as a niggly high shot wind-up merchant, and so I was amazed to see his official record, but hey if that's what it is, then they have to go by that. They did. Deal with it and move on.'"
A few things in response
(1) Imo the grading of the offence was incorrect in the first place given the nature of the tackle and the impact it had on the player, plus taking into account the MRP grading of other incidents previously.
(2) They are supposed to take in aggrevating factors as well as mitigating ones.
In this case, our player was knocked out and could not play any further part in that game, plus as he had no control over his body he has apparently injured his knee when falling to the ground in a heap and is now supposed to be doubtful for the cup semi final which will be 3 weeks after the challenge that injured him. Yet curly locks will be available after sitting out one game and paying 300 quid.
SOL also showed no concern whatsoever for the injured player - all he did after the tackle was try and persuade the ref not to send him off then left the field. Not the actions of a player showing remorse for a poorly executed tackle.
So imo it is not bollox for people to call into question the lessening of the ban in such a situation.
There is too much disparity between the decisions made and the fact that the MRP and disciplinary are independent of each other imo only serves to lead to these inconsistencies.
I would suggest that the MRP and Disciplinary Panel Members need to be meeting to discuss their respective roles and try to iron out some of the issues that clearly exist.

| Sure, it looked bad on TV, but more so because Annakin flopped to the ground, having taken a knock to his chin.
But seriously, some of the overkill hate on here for all things Wigan and RFL is embarrassing.
RL has a problem with its worldwide image, and overreactions like this don't help.
What about Raynor deliberately knocking out Sam Tomkins?
What about Westwood's punch on Blake Green in the 2013 GF?
What about Morley's elbow smash to Blake Green's face later in the same game?
No punishments at all. No penalties, no cards, no bans. (Edit:apparently Raynor did get sent off: my apologies)
Come on people, get a grip. It's a tough sport, and there is a big difference between O'Loughlin's tackle and some of the thuggery that goes on.
And I'll bet most of you want to bring back the biff, and love a punch up on the pitch too.

Annakin was knocked unconscious by an illegal challenge and subsequently injured (knee) by someone who didn't seem to care about his well being - if that's worth only a 1 game ban then we need to understand why far lesser offences have copped for more

We get 2000 more than we would have without him. Which would you rather have ?
Widnes broke the rules but had no points taken away do you think that was right ?

The problem is none of your examples are recent events so not appropriate to judge against SOL decision with the procedures we currently have in place and other decisions that have been handed down this season.
Anthony England got a 2 game ban for hardly touching Jon Wilkin, so against that back drop this decision seems unduly lenient.
Incidentally, there was a photo from Fridays game showing SOL with his elbow up high and leading into a Wakefield players head, this was not picked up by the MRP nor was anything done about Manfredi elbow in the tackle (unless they deem 10 minutes to be sufficient for such an offence)

It can't help when Salford were given 2 punishments for the 14 players. The ban on Chase for the tackle on the quick healing player after the 'help' from the head coach prior to the hearing and then having their own player injured and Brough completely in the clear. The non-stop controversy concerning every involvement by the RFL over the past 3 years.
The inconsistency can be seen everywhere. The RFL is a fragmented organisation for a governing body and appears to be completely inept,in every facet, for this sport.

After reading your comment I pointed out to the RFL that their disciplinary rota hadn't been updated and they responded pretty quickly [urlhttp://media.therfl.co.uk/docs/DISCIPLINARY%20ON%20FIELD%20ROTA%202016_JUNE-OCT%20-%20Copy.pdf[/url
Worth taking note of yesterday's panel.

What did you want Lockers to do exactly? Get in the way of medical professionals who were treating a concussed player by getting on his knees and wailing at Annakin's feet?

Confirmed, Appealing the 1 match ban and also asking for Child to be sat down for next week due to the bad red card.
Hopefully SOL will be able to play next week, with the ref sent to the Championship for a week or two.

John Bouzebda made a nothing tackle, no penalty given and was charged with a maximum 2 match ban, but it was doubled by the panel and upheld on appeal, put these two 'offences' along side each other and O'Loughlin should have got 12 matches based on what Bouzebda got.

| I think every single club, mine included, has been on the right end, and bad end, of the disciplinary panel. its a farce. and for me getting sent off after 1 or 80 minutes shouldn't affect the punishement. it should have been 3 games with the egp meaning a 2 game ban.

And in typical style you prove your own point.
It was a stiff arm tackle rather than a head high which imo is a five match ban minimum. But then making excuses for criminal behaviour is your stock in trade.
As a matter of interest if I pop round to your house tomorrow and beat up your wife I assume you will take my previous good character into account - not so much as a parking ticket in 53 years. So what do you reckon, sent home sufficient and a weeks community service?

I am no fan of Hull KR but how can anybody justify THIS tackle (grade B range 1-2) getting 4 matches...
www.loverugbyleague.com/news_208 ... weeks.html
When this tackle (grade C range 2-3) only gets 1 match?!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jXHXEXe22PI
It is simply mental
Stinks of favouritism. If he was in the Championship he'd have had the book thrown at him, no question! SL players get lighter treatment than the rest and 'big' clubs/players get it lighter still.
