Well at least the terrible video ref decisions have evened themselves up. I said I could see the thinking behind the first one, not that one though.

I really don't like the ref's call concept. I think it puts pressure on the video ref's to find ways of confirming the on-field decision, rather than just assessing whether a try was scored.

I posted in the other thread, it should've been a try. But even if not in that situation it would have to be catalan ball if he hadn't grounded it correctly. Goal line drop out made literally no sense.

Indeed. The Saints chants of "You don't know what you're doing" post offside decision as the replay showed Percival in line with a Catalans PTB 5m out were an early season comedy moment. It joins James Child's entire performance from last night in the joke stakes.

Not a good game at all. Penalties, errors, bad video ref decisions, both teams very disjointed in attack. At least it's tight again.

And more, that 4th min tackle by Greenwood was pretty high looking with the shoulder and Burns has made a couple of 3rd man in on the knee tackles. Are they taking the thugby route?

And then the constant cheating, let go on too long before the yellow came out. Seems the crowd don't like it, the obvious offsides on the TV even got a boo.

Saints need to get a grip and get their heads back in this game. Those penalties were all fair in my view. Saints don't seem to have any focus. Time for wilkin to show some leadership and sort out his troops.

I have a bit of sympathy with the fans at the game, I think any crowd would be thinking they were hard done by even though it turns out the ref is right.

But the real comedy was from the Saints players. Firstly to continue pushing the line with offside (Percival and others were even offside from the penalty given for offside) and messing about at the play the ball after 4/5 penalties in a row. And secondly the look of incredulity on some of the Saints players faces. Surely you knew you were offside? Y'know, when you were in line with the play the ball?

Is it just Scousers? Wigan thugs, Saints offside cheats or Saints fans constantly booing because they aren't getting their own way!

Catalans showing a lot of spirit. If they can adjust their kicking game to get behind Saints defence they can score again. But Saints had looked good in the first 20 minutes.

I expect Saints to beat a depleted Catalan team, but who knows? Thomas Bosc, Gregory Mounis and a couple of times John Zebolon Taia have done well.

If saints can sort themselves out they will run away with this in the 2nd half. Les Catalans haven looked like breaking them down and it took a looong string of (deserved) penalties to get them in.

If they keep giving away so any easy metres and easy repeat sets the Les Catalans could sneak it.

They've always done it mate it's just that Bentham has had a funny turn.

Oh I know they've generally got away with a lot, but to keep at it when the ref is penalising the crap out of you beggars belief.

It's the way they have been coached into it and allowed to get away with it for years, it's just in the DNA now and they can't help themselves.
