| Quote ="WireFanatic III"Indeed he is. But he's a former Wire player. I'm surprised people are picking Chris Hill.....well, apart from Wakey Saint who decided to pick Kyle Amor instead.
'"
Obviously your agenda of "everybody is against Wire" got in the way of you actually reading my post ...pretty sure if you look back at it I had "8. Amor & 15. Hill" and therefore said clearly I would pick both and not Amor instead of Hill.
FWIW I think both are very similar players and rate both very highly. I picked Amor to start as I think Hill would make a bigger impact from the bench than Kyle, using Amor to do the solid graft and introduce Hill after 20 mins when defences are tiring for the yards and breaks he is capable of making...on form I think both should make the starting 17 and to be fair, who starts and who is on the bench is a bit irrelevant as props interchanging like that usually play similar minutes in a game anyway.
Maybe next time you should actually read what somebody posts properly, rather than getting half way down and jumping to incorrect conclusions that just make you look a tad stupid

Hardaker is too good to leave out IMO especially as S.Tomkins defence at FB can be a bit suspect and we struggle for good half backs. As someone who watches Smith every week I'm not yet convinced of his ability to turn up in big games, particularly when things aren't going our way. I know it's tough to play behind a beaten pack but I still think Widdop or Tomkins would have thrown more at the opposition v Leeds (A) and Cas (H, cup) this year than Smith did.'"
I'd go along with this team but you'd have to ask what Charnley has done this season to get in?
Everything else I agree with as I don't think anyone is going to get the bench right as it depends largely on how we want to play. Although I'd definitely have both Roby and Clarke in the 17. The Aussies must be jealous of that!

| Don't see how anyone can pick Bateman or Kirmond, and to a less extent Ferres over Ablett, Ablett has been one of the best 2nd rowers in SL this season.

Agreed, Ablett has been very good. But I would put Bateman in as well, although Mcnamara will keep one as a sub, not use them then wonder why a half back had stepped passed a knackard prop in 79th minute.

Bateman has probably been Wigans player of the season (he's certainly many Wigan fans choice in a thread on our board) and whilst very young is looking a very good player already.
Better then Ablett? Not sure, I don't see enough of him but Bateman is pushing up in to international contention you'd have to think.

Charnley has scored 13 tries in his last 8 games; he looks like he's over his injury and back to last season's form to me. He also tends to stand up at important times in big games IMO, scoring in our '11 cup final v Leeds, '13 grand final v Warrington (in the second half to put us level before the conversion) and for England v Australia with 4mins to go which would have put us within a score of a draw, had it been converted.

He his incredibly strong. Both defensively and in attack. So height is not an issue when he is so strong. Seen him shrug off 3 or 4 defenders at a time.

Exactly. He's not going to get much bigger then he is really. He might fill out a bit but he'll always be on the small side for a forward but that lack of size has litter ally no impact on his game. He is as strong as an ox and hits hard in defence and it probably helps him fitness wise because he's got a great engine.
One other major plus point for me is his attitude. I know he gets under people's skins but he never takes a backwards step and anybody of that age willing to go head to head with the likes of Bailey and especially Peacock has a great deal about them.

Start picking championship players. At the rate they are going, England will start to struggle against France.

| I wouldn't want to make too many changes to the World Cup team as I'm not sure many if a lot of the 'new' players mentioned here could come in and improve the team. The only change I would make that wouldn't be enforced would be Shenton over Cudjoe.
Clark will probably get a run from the bench and you can't argue against that on form, his stats are quite amazing in terms of tackle busts and average gain considering he plays through the middle. From what I've seen of him he thrives on a quick ruck which he won't get as often in internationals so it will be interesting to see how he goes.
Replacing Sam Burgess is the impossible task.

| I'm definitely in the Mcllorum corner, he'd be my starting hooker against the Aussies, Roby and Clark would battle it out for a bench spot.
Roby and Clark may dominate Mcllorum in the stats chart, but super league stats count for nothing in a one off test match, and Mcllorums toughness would be much more of an asset to us IMO.

Agreed. Miles behind Clarke, and I would put him as England's fourth choice hooker behind Clarke, Roby and Burrow.

I can understand why people would select MM. Personally I wouldn't assuming everyone is fit. I'd depends what you want from your team and how you want them to play. I think there is enough aggression in the England pack to be able to select a player with a bit more flair.

Halves who can guide us around the field and get us field position
Forwards with plenty of aggression and good stamina
Some flair to come off the bench.
Roby should be nowhere near the England team anymore, he's a spent force.
We've been too soft at international level for too long and i feel it's time we went for aggression and pace.

| If Roby shouldn't be anywhere near the England team then McIlorum shouldn't be playing professional RL. He may not be the player he once was but he is still one of the best number 9s we have. McIlorum has aggression in his favour and that is it.

Hall is top of the error count because he is asked to offload so much, and Leeds have a tactic of kicking to his corner for him to dump it back in to Moon when these hit the floor this is counted as an error but it is more of a calculated risk he isnt making a ton of errors it areas he shouldnt.
in terms of british wingers hall has the most metres, the most tackle busts, 16 clean breaks, 32 offloads, he has the 2nd most metres of anyone in SL behind Peacock. he hasnt been bad.
