Well done Jonny for advertising what a good product the championship is. It's a shame about the attendances but i'm not sure the move to Premier Sports was such a good one. I'm not privvy to the financial details but a lot of 'casual' speccies are now no longer watching championship games, depends on the financial burden/benefit.'"
Glad you enjoyed the ' handbags '
The move to PS hasnt made much if any difference to attendances , its playing thursday that kills them, other than that the reccession and the percieved lack of ' end product ' to winning the competition is what is slowly eating into them, the rugby is pretty good overall

| Of course however under Skys tenure there were average viewing figures of say 80k (some were as high as 100k), now depending on the financial details of the PS deal, I thought 80k watching a semi pro sports comp on a thursday wasnt half bad going. I suppose ateotd the clubs probably voted for whats best for them, I just think i'm annoyed that Virgin wont back Premier.
Secondly does no one think 4 teams being promoted was a little too much? I can see the benefits for the Chp but a completely expansion 10 team Chp 1? Im really not sure on that one unless they play 3 times each, 12 each may have been a better alternative

| So the team in 5th in championship 1 can win the playoffs( ie the final) and not get promoted, what a joke

| I can see why they nailed it down at the start of the season to the 4 teams, no late interesting signings, a bad injury run cant completely derail you, it negates the playoffs to an extent but all the clubs definately agreed on that before they kicked off so, whatever will be will be

It's more analogous to the old Premiership system

| I could increase attendances and have posted the formula before.
Play junior games in the early afternoon second team games after the junior games and then the first team game = more product for your money.
Secondly championship clubs of all divisions grow some balls take your game into your hands tells the RFL you want more control. They have a product that will sell, sell it to terrestrial TV. Sell it at a fair price, not free like the RFL did but a fair price. Terrestrial TV gives potential for more people watching meaning you can attract better advertising deals play the televised games on a Sunday, less disruption to clubs more people relaxing at home = more viewers. The added TV will make people support a team they see, they will want to see their team live, not every week but a few times a season some will then go eventually every game. Play a mid-week cup competition one game televised with a round up at the start or end of the Sunday televised game.
I truly believe that done right the championship could become better than super League. The games are overall a lot closer and their for, more exciting.

Yeah, it's not like the Championship contains whipping boys like York, Swinton and Hunslet. It's not like Swinton conceded 90+ points against Featherstone either.
The Champ has a long way to go yet. I will hold my breath for the promoted teams next year.
