nope, he was in charge when we got relegated in 2001 and although we had a good run under him still went down, the next season we went the whole year unbeaten winning the NFP minor premiership, National cup and NFP grand final - we finished in a respectable position in our 1st year back in SL before Leeds poached him!.

we couldnt defend an under 9's team that season but we should of beaten you at hilton park though had that last minute drop goal stood which it should of done because the ball was still in play when the hooter went

| Matt Parish's stats don't lie. Granted he was only in charge of Salford for 6 games, but winning only one of them gives him a win percentage of 16.6%. He's got to go down as statistacally one of the worst coaches to grace Super League.

| John Harvey at Salford.
Bradford 96 - 16 Salford. The only stat you need! Wiki has his coaching career at Salford as 58 games, 16 wins, 1 draw and 41 defeats. Ahh the memories!

| Quote ="The Chronicler of Chiswic"Just looked it up - you won 7 out of 28, the losses including a 2-72 against Saints, and missed relegation by 3 points. The season sticks in my mind for our 30-18 beating of you in an 'on the road' game in Carcasonne where it was so hot that the ref (Russell Smith, if I remember aright) agreed to the game being played in 20 minute quarters to give the players a break.'"
Most of those wins will have come after Paul Cullen took charge towards the end of the season and all. Remember listening to that game on the radio, think Nathan Wood and Ben Westwood made their debuts that day if I'm not wrong. Happy days.

Although the hooter had (apparently) gone, Ganson didn't blow for full-time until the ball had already been played which meant it should have still been in play when Jay Duffy dropped the goal.

| It seems the mighty Peter Gentle couldn't coach his team to a win when they were winning by 20 points in the second half, trumped by the terrible worst coach in the history of Super League, Richard Agar.

One win against a very poor Hull side hardly cements Agar's place as a top coach.

Let them enjoy the odd win. For the sake of Wakey and RL, I hope Agar doesn't make watching RL seem like the massive chore it did while he was at Hull.

I thought the predictable anti Agar drivel from Hull fans was funny, but this is gold medal.
So Mal Reilly who crowned an illustrious coaching career with an NRL GF win has no man management skills! UNREAL
I suggest in many cases on this thread but especially on this one fans look at the senile BOD and the often gutless and talentless bunch of players these men had to deal with - most of whom were not fit to lace Malcom's boots - and as a Wakey fan that's hard to say.

Correct, and not finishing bottom and/or getting you relegated hardly makes him the worst does it.
The job at Hull was to big for him, but he's not the first and judging by yesterday won't be the last.

He certainly turned a top team into a mediocre team, whereas lots of the others made mediocre or poor team worse.

| I think a lot of Reilly's problem was that he himself was so ultra competitive (frighteningly but funnily so if you read Matt Johns' book on him), and I think just really struggled with average players.

| After reading through all of these posts I'm ready to give my impartial view and choose a worthy winner.
Any coach that can take a team from 4th to bottom within 2 seasons has to be the worst SL coach ever
Take a bow Kevin Walters.

| Peter Walsh for Hull FC (or Sharks at the time) was pretty poor, although he didn't have a squad to compete really. He was head coach for our first season in 1998 and half of 99
Played - 32
Won - 8
Lost 24
Points Scored - 529
Conceded - 813
He lost the first 9 games of the 99 season which cost him his job. There was no dramatic improvement and we finished 2nd bottom. But the thing that sticks in FC fans throats with Walsh is Hull replaced Phil Sigsworth who clearly wanted to have a crack at Super League having taken us up but was overlooked for a suposedly better coach. Would rather have given Siggy a crack.
