| Quote ="yickpie24"My point there is that the GF and CC final has more prestige and attraction than MM obviously, so fans (new or otherwise) are willing to pay £30 to attend.
The 'Tragic' tag is tounge in cheek, i have friends who are season ticket holders at other clubs and will not pay £15 to go and watch MM this year purley because of the location, if you know Eastlands, =#FF0000Etihad is a good 20-25min walk from Piccadilly station with limited public transport links if you are not driving. Just as importantly there are limited bars, restaurants, outlets etc around the stadium unlike Cardiff, i hope the RFL have considered this...
Rather than glass half empty i would say 'realistic' and looking to improve our sport hence me trying to attract people to watch it
'"
There is a train to Ashbury which is 10 minute walk instead and a massive £1.60 for a return ticket from Manchester Picadilly.

| I'm not a season ticket holder and got weekend tickets at £22.50 each a couple of weeks ago through Hull FC who had an offer on.
If the OP had bothered to search around and not left it too late, they'd have found these discounted tickets (I'm guessing other clubs will have had this offer on as well).
I get the impression that the OP never intended going to the event, and simply fancied a whinge.

Mind reader aye? Not sure I can win this one...
"Because of the location"? Wow. You'd best get on to the City of Manchester and break it gently to them that the stadium's in the wrong place. Nobody will ever come. Doomed to failure. I wonder how the Russian fans of Zenit, or for that matter Rangers fans, felt when they played the UEFA Cup Final there?
I think you will find Football is muchmore popular than RL (unfortunatley) and the Rangers fans ended up rioting in the town centre...probably because they couldnt find the stadium.
I also note that 48,000 hardy and intrepid souls managed to find the place just yesterday.
Again City - big Premiership Club, MM - poor concept with a sport in an alien city
Astonishing insight. I can't imagine they did. It is too cutting edge. Wait . . . I wonder . . will they be selling any food and drink INSIDE the stadium? Left field, I know, but could be possible.
They might possibly exploit a captive audience on prices, a bit like the admission prices, think about it...
[uYou're a whining flatcapper, who wishes he could have winter, mud and Eddie Waring back. Tell me this - what the fsck use would restaurants and outlets around the ground be to you and your tightwad mates? They won't even pay £15 for a bleeding ticket!'" [/u
If you read the thread they have to pay £30 becuase they are not season ticket holders, students etc.
Bulls prefer summer do they and SL?...well they did until about month ago!!

[iThank you for your email. If your friends are full paying Adults (as opposed to Juniors aged 16 and under, Seniors aged 65 and over or Students) then £30 for a day ticket is the cheapest option.
Now you try convincing somebody that £30 to watch several RL games is a bargain, they have never been to a game, dont know what to expect and are being asked for what i would consider a significant amount of money.
Who is this event aimed at? Existing fans or attracting new support?

| My tickets to take in four games cost £15. Even at £30 (which I was prepared to pay) it's still a bargain and we'll get the chance to see the Premier League trophy as well for nowt

Almost 50,000? How does that compare to two weeks before the event in other years?
Personally I think there'll be a late surge in ticket sales with it being so close to the majority of clubs.

The pubs around the Etihad aren't great, but "City Square" just outside the ground is a much better facility for eating and drinking than you will find at most sports stadia. Its usually buzzing before City games with live bands, interviews with celebs, big screens etc. I dont know what plans the RFL have to use it but its ideally suited for Magic Weekend.

| So far sales are about 12% ahead of this time last year and I'm told have increased significantly this week.Apparently 70,000 for the weekend is realistic.

| should be good with 30/40k in the stadium each day. Wont be rattling round as much as we were in the 70k capacity of Cardiff and Edinburgh. Should get some good atmosphere going for some of the games, and encourage people to stay for the games that are not their own.

The majority of people will be in and out of the ground, such is the nature of the event, so there'll still be a lot of empty seats. And there'll still be a lot of people complaining about this even though it's just the nature of the beast.

| As ever with this event, there'll be 25k-35k people enjoying a brilliant weekend watching great rugby, good banter and a few beers.
And yet the event will be declared a failure by 250-350 people on rugby league forums such as this one, sitting at home in their pants counting the empty seats on Sky and declaring what a farce/disaster it is all over the internet.

| At prices from £7:50 per game it is an absolute bargain . I just wish I had remembered to get a ticket . I have been a bit distracted as of late , and as I can't find an unreserved ticket so I can sit with my mates it looks like I won't be going .It would be a bit boring sitting on my own all day .

Good post. I've been to every one and it's a great weekend. The whingers tend to be those who can't be bothered to go. I also get the impression that some of those who say we've given the game to Stobarts on a plate also want to be first in the queue for the cheap tickets.
