In the old days, if a stranger came to a village, and his face didn't fit, and he upset people, they would kill him. The Fev v Halifax northern rail semi was as exciting as anything in SL this year.

Yeah but look at the scoreline. That would never have happened in SL. Would it?

But would you be happy as a club losing your three biggest attendances every year because they are on Thursday nights without any recompense ?

I didnt say that did I? I just enjoy the Thursday night games and will miss watching them.

Unfortunatly that is how we lower league fans have to look at things these days , its all about the money , not the sport , tonight Batley will miss out on a fair number of fans that would have attended on Sunday

Nobody has to tell me how entertaining the Championships are , unfortunatly there arent enough people paying to watch it for it to continue , so it has to go , they've all had it for free for 4 years , time to move on , but what will be interesting is will SKY still be interested in retaining control of the play offs and finals ? , therefore making it unviable for anybody else to show any interest

I acutally think its a good thing having a few games on Sky, its good for the sponsors to get their brand advertised, without being on tele wouldn't it be more difficult to obtain sponsorship that is actually makes the club decent money, A few hundred fans not turning up who probably use free tickets to get in anyway isn't that poor a deal and i personally feel that being able to obtain sponsors is far more important. I also like watching other teams that to be honest i would not go and pay to watch, Leigh is one of these, I have shown a interest in their games this year but would not travel over to watch them play even on a weekend.

Thats just me though, I dont watch SL rugby as i dont find it as entertaining and as i dont care who wins or loses at the end of the day, where as i do when watching championship rugby. However as there is so little of us championship fans i don't suppose anyone really gives a rats ass. Be nice to see how the relegated teams fans change next year.

I'd disagree , few if any sponsors at our level are anywhere near getting a return on the money they put in either with or without the TV exposure , Fax perhaps are the only one as most other clubs have very localised or even directors being the main sponsors

The future of the Championship clubs will depend on their ability to draw localised fan bases rather than sponsors , if you have the fan numbers the sponsors follow on from there , it doesn't work the other way round

I've enjoyed a lot of championship stuff too but probably for the wrong reasons

The majority of games wouldn't look out of place on a show like Britains funniest videos. It's hard to find that level of ineptitude in SL even with sides like Crusaders and Quins playing
