| Quote ="Damo-Leeds"What Union has done to league in the past shouldn’t be forgotten, but it’s time that we forgive the Rugby Union establishment of today for what its ancestors did. I highly doubt that anyone is still around from 100 years ago who sanctioned such outrageous bans of our game. There’s probably the odd Union Bigots about today, but I’d like to think that a majority of rugby union fans are a civilised bunch who watch the game because they were bought up on it.
I don’t think you’ll find many Union fans that make a conscious decision to choose Union over league because of what happened over one hundred years ago. Likewise I didn’t start supporting League because some old man stopped me in the street rambling on about Northern Pride and how the evil southerners want to get one over us.
However we must not let this get in the way of the fact that Union is in debt to rugby league – mainly the damage that was done in France. I do wonder if there’s ever been an official apology from a rugby union establishment on the behalf of what was done in the past?
Either way, I’m sorry for the union bigotry that you’ve come across in your life. I’m sure that all league fans are salt of the earth, friendly and have no airs or graces. This reminds me of going to house party on my estate where every bashes Asians because they’ve had a bad experience of a few people who happen to be Asian.'"
vichy, there are people still alive from that
USAP actions re Les catalans
IRB telling european nations they would stop funding them if they tried RL

| Union are scum, always have been and always will be. Class War now!
It is the only sport in the world I can honestly say I hate, the sooner it crumbles the better for me. It is brilliant being in oz and seeing RL starting to suffocate it. Hopefully a combination of the IC, massive TV deal and SA pulling out of S15 one day will see it relegated to the ranks of baseball or basketball in this country. Force watch out the Reds are coming! Rant over.

for over 100 years the rfu waged war on RL
professionals were banned from RU, but only one type of professionals - professional rugby players
professional boxers and other pro sportsmen were allowed to play RU
the bans were to stop RL growing
then after 100 years of fighting a war banning professional rugby players the RFU itself adopted professionalism without so much as an apology to RL for what it had done

You'd better start praying that Leeds win their Image Rights test case against the Inland Revenue then, if we lose then we can all probably kiss goodbye to professional RL in the UK and the already dominant position that the English RU have will be cemented firmly in place (they already have IR agreements in place)

| Quote ="gutterfax"Pretty much sums you up dally messenger.......what happens on websites and in Australia is everything to you......which website was it BTW? Do they receive a gazzillion hits a day?
This is again where you show yourself up as being a total idiot. The only people capapble of relegating union to an afterthought in New Zealand are the NZRFU themselves........you fail to comprehend that the only reason the Warriors get decent gates is because they are based in the part of the country with the highest Maori/Pacifica population.........Rugby Union is the National Sport of New Zealand...there are 5 S15 Teams.....14 ITM cup teams...the All Blacks are the most recognised Rugby Brand on the global stage.......but you continue to post bollox regarding League Dominating Union over here......you know nothing.
I meet once a month with the people who KNOW what the plan is.......I am fully aware of where RL is heading in NZ and it really has no interest in domination of a sport that is 500%+ bigger than it.
The NRL is doing nothing in NZ by the way......if they wanted to attract more fans and money to the game they would have the Wellington Orcas in NOW....but that would only go to highlight the lack of depth in their competition.........NZRL is a seperate organisation and I believe that with decent funding/backing, the national competition here could start to attract some decent talent back home.....who needs the NRL when we have the talent pool here? Over 40% of the current NRL rosters qualify for NZ......not bad considering...and a decent backer/TV deal would see a fair few of them "come home".'"
the poll was actually on an english rl forum, not this one
see if you can work out what it is.
the nrl has years of growth ahead of it, the S15 is static at best
well crush the life out of it

| worse than that the S15 is going backwards. When the Force were brought in the ARU could afford to give them $12mill start up grant. When the Rebels got the nod they asked them to not receive any funding for for the first year and have been ok'd to recruit 10 overseas players as there isn;t the RU talent in Oz fo another team. Inglis was the perfect marquee signing for them, he was available yet they weren't in with a sniff of getting him. In years gone by the ARU would have swooped for him in a heartbeat.

You are kidding right.
What happened to me was about 15-20 years ago in which I decided to try a game of union when a work colleague asked me to go down to his local RU club.
I had a couple of training sessions and they decided to give me a game in the 2nd XV.It went quite well(although in saying that I touched the ball twice as I was playing centre) and even scored a try.
Anyway we was in the clubhouse and the 1st team coach came to me and asked if I played RL anywhere and I said I played for my local amateur club. You should of seen the look on his face and within 10/15 mins of our little conversation I was asked to leave the premises.
As for saying that all RL fans are salt of the earth etc what has that got to do with anything. The reason I started to watch and play RL is because I fell in love with the sport.

You either have an incredibly over active imagination or you eat a lot of cheese at bedtime.
Your story sounds like the intro to one of those made up letters you find in a gentlemans magazine.
I almost expected you to go on and say that when you left the premises you walked back to your Ferrari Testarossa on the car park only to find the 1st teams coaches wife (who was Lucy Pinders body double) lying naked on the bonnet wearing only a St Helens jersey waiting for you.

That’s make Union totally bad yeah..

seriously.....an apology....
Are you 5yrs old? Really...you are starting to post like a 5yr old.
What the fu&k is the issue with you lot.
What happened in France was wrong.....but then again, if you look at what happened in concentration camps I think it might put it into context for you.
So what if someone was asked to leave a Union club....fu&k 'em. Was it the only place to have a beer that night?
Banned from playing Union.......for a bunch of anti-unionites you really are a bit dim. Surely that's a benefit, not a sanction

Whilst History is important and we should never forget where we come from or what has happened on the way......if I am honest, the battle between the 2 codes is about as interesting as watching paint dry.
Yes....RU was the bad boy.....but unless you live in the south West of France, what the vichy government did isn't really going to change your life is it?
If it is...then I suggest you stay away from all history books because in most of them, someone is shi77ing on someone else.
As I have said with regard to your personal experience.....what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but there is no strength to be had from bitterness. As for sanctions........and I do like this reasoning......if the worst the RFU/IRB can do is ban you from playing Union, then surely that's a benefit..not a punishment.
I am a convert to League. I still watch Union, but don't go out of my way to do so.....unlike League, which I will watch at most levels. The point is, I don't have any problem with any sport...why should I? Life is too short cj........just rejoice in the fact that you like TGG........and let union look after itself.

so what? Let 'em hate I say......just smile in the knowledge that the game you love is far superior to Union.
Jesus, if the southern hemishperes Unions know this...they keep changing the rules to make Union better and the only difference between the codes now is the line out......the scrums (that will soon change....they can't continue to have 3 resets every time they pack down) and the mauls. Rucks are cleared pretty quickly now...and the ball sometimes recycled faster than it takes a leage PTB to complete.
In time, the 2 games will resemble each other more and more and it's not League that will be changing.

Now I've read your original post again and again and unless I am missing the point or I have developed some disgusting eye condition that makes me unable to read terrible experiences I can't see what the problem is.
You are basing your entire irrational hatred of Rugby Union on the sole fact that you were allegedly asked to leave a Rugby Union clubhouse for the sole reason that you had played Rugby League?
I'm not suggesting for one moment that you are imagining this (well ok, maybe I am just a little).
But even if it DID happen it's hardly a reason to despise the 15 man code to such an extent that you have created a username on an RL web forum to reflect what may or may not have happened?
I'm sorry CJ.
Either you are imagining this whole thing or in the unlikely event it DID happen there must have been some other reason why you were allegedly asked to leave this Rugby Union clubhouse.
But in any case it's not like you were abducted by Johnny Wilkinson and Brian O'Driscoll and were held captive for 24 years in a condominium-style apartment complex built by Martin Johnson in the basement area of Twickenham is it?

| Who’s for putting cjhatesunion on a unusual phobias episode of The Maury Povich Show?
Maury could take him to the very scene where this incident happened 15 years ago. It’d make good TV and I’m sure it’ll bring the two codes closer together.

OK dally messenger...I think that whilst you have a smattering of knowledge regarding Rugby League that you have read in books that are pretty much written by Rugby League journalists, you are in need of a Geography lesson as well as a couple of pointers on the state of Rugby League in the UK when compared to Union
[size=150Geography:[/sizeBelow is a map showing you the area that covers the majority of the RL concentration in the UK. Please study this as it will give you a better idea of how "local" the game is. Whilst there is a senior team in London, the welsh team is now just off the end of the M62 corridor....therefore, the opportunity to watch RU for RL fans is limited to Quins RU in London, Sale in Manchester and Leeds in....er...leeds. You will see that the M62 concentration is pretty much as it has been for over 100 years.......so your dreams of world domination...whilst funny....have no chance of coming to fruition in our lifetime OR IN REALITY, ANYONE ELSES LIFETIME
In reality dally messenger...as much as you would like to think Union is a sick puppy waiting to be put down, it is in fact quite a healthy sport. The recent attendances for games at Twickenham which were part of the regular season show that the UK public will turn up. Wasps and Quins are to play a game in the UAE in the near future......which I am sure will do well attendance wise. As with most sporting clubs in the UK, there are financial issues, but in general, Union is still streets ahead of League.
The kicker to this: I am a Rugby League fan. I converted in 2002 and I only post things like this to try and educate you on the error of your ways. I am sure the Union troll brigade will pop up again, but as usual, there will be no decent counter argument.
IMO, RL needs to concentrate on its own game...ignore what the IRB/RFU do (unless there are ideas worth nicking) and try to continue to grow the game slowly.......
