To be fair Brisbane have only been around for 20 odd years. Do they relly deserve to be called the biggest? Maybe in the modern day game but not over a 100 years of RL history they don't.

I’ve been to Benidorm in Spain where Manchester United was held in very high regard. I can also say the same thing for Manchester United when I was briefly working in Italy. You ought to get to the real Spain and Italy my friend.

I understand what you are saying mate but personally I think Brisbane are the biggest name in RL.
Wigan are probably the 2nd biggest and are the biggest in British RL(God that hurt).

If you ask any RL fan for the biggest team in RL in the world the majority would say the Broncos in my opinion and Cronulla would not be even in the top 50,hell even my local amateur club would be named before them.

www.broncos.com.au/default.aspx? ... r-15-years
Brisbane Broncos average home crowd in 2010 35,000, nearly double the next best in the NRL and more than double Wigan's average attendance in 2010.
The question would have to be at this time, else change the question to biggest name in the history of rugby league, most successful, etc because St George have alot of history and success, yet St George Illawarra is an option, same with Balmain and Western Suburbs, great history but no option here. Redefine the question else it would automatically become biggest NOW as there is no mention of the word history. Unfortunately there is also the word consider in there so latitude has given way people answering two different questions, and even more questions within questions.
Ask anyone who is not neccessarily a fan of the sport, and they will give Wigan as the answer because they were largely the only team in British rugby league for not far off 15 years (sorry Saints fans). Look closely around the subject and you will find that Wigan do have the history, the fans and all the things that make them a big, big club, fact is that Brisbane are at this time a much bigger business, generating more money with a revenue of over $25.5 million in 2008, operating out of a bigger stadium, attracting more than double the fans, operating club programs out of a much larger area, playing in a better competition where away support have to travel massive distances, is a publicly listed club, enjoys widespread radio coverage, enjoys TV coverage on Channel 7, 9 and as well as match coverage on 9 and Fox. The Broncos enjoyed a spell under Wayne Bennett that is somewhat comparable to Wigans dominance in the pre-SL era, especially the consistent achievement of play-off football, etc, etc, etc

Like an earlier poster said..... Brisbane are the biggest. They have the best stadium which is their own and they have the best crowds, they could be pushing up above 40k soon. Wigan are the most famous due to their success.

I think you have been watching too much rugby union again CJ
The Broncos are a good side with a good supporter base.
But you could never say they are the 'biggest team in RL'
They have only been around for a short time.
Souths are the biggest name in RL for my money.
Been around since the beginning.
Had some legendary players
Won 20 premierships
Sure they have been less than successful in recent times... and made some poor signings (such as little pommie Sam) since Rusty took over....but they are still arguably the biggest name in RL

I'm assuming you're being ironic on that one as getting someone to accept a lower wage than they were on and have a significantly better than expected first season in the NRL with the praise being pretty much universal, with Gorden Tallis branding him "the best Pommie to come out here in 20 years" and that includes the likes of Adrian Morley, Gareth Ellis, Ellery Hanley, Harvey Howard and Dennis Betts. Can't read whether it's irony or an attempt to distance yourself from your homeland mate.

True, but you'll admit that the TV coverage on both Fox and 9 has him as a quality NRL player as well as pretty much all of the online RL coverage that we get from Australia. Tallis was just the best quote for "bigging him up" I could find.

I'm a big fan of Gordy. A great player. One of the few Queenslanders I admire.
And it's obvious he is not going to bite the hand that feeds him by saying 'Ahhh .. Sam Burgess.. pretty ordinary'

He may have had a few less than 10/10 games but what marks out of ten would you give his season for Souths.

"Sam Burgess was absolutely outstanding in his first year in the NRL, the English behemoth playing more minutes (69.5 per game) than many expected when he arrived. He was second only to Luke in average metres (126.5) and made 27.9 tackles per game, bringing a work rate to his dynamic play that very few knew he had."

Fair enough, opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one. From all the games I saw he looked every inch a quality NRL player, with something a little imagination. I'm not gonna stand up and say he was the best forward in the comp, because I can only claim to have seen 1/3 of Souths fixtures but of those he only had one bad game and even then would have still scored a 5. Going on the various press he played well throughout the season, so I imagine you are toying with me, else the big fella slept with your missus.
