Nice work.
I imagine he will be buying a season ticket first thing in the morning with a recommendation like that'"
Look Sherlock, I appreciate your an Aussie (or at least a pretend Aussie), but it's not exactly a secret that we're rubbish, I don't think many people will really buy into if I claim we're reall dead good, except maybe Aussies (and pretend Aussies) who haven't got a clue about RL except what some cretin like Andrew Voss tells them they should think as they settle down in their armchair to watch a game they've probably never seen live, but as they wouldn't go to a live game if it was played at the bottom of their garden it's neither here nor there.

For a so called fan of Harlequins RL you dont exactly try and sell the place to potential fans do you?

'"
Well now you see Starbug, waaaaay back in the mists of time (well page 2 of this thread anyway) a chap calling himself 'Standee' posted the following
Quote ="Standee"Im contracted in London until March at the moment, anyone any ideas when the league is likely to start, if I can get 4 games in then I might be tempted to lend my support.'"
Although no expert, Barry McKenzie has put 2 and 2 together and come up with the startling fact that this bloke is tempted to come along and watch Quins RL.
If he did (and liked it) he would tell his mates... who in turn would tell their mates... and that way even more people might come along for a looky.
It makes absolutely no difference to me whether 6 or 6000 people turn up to watch the club... I'm not a Quins supporter ... I'm leaving London at the end of the year... and to be honest... I dont give a fat rats.
So now 'Standee' has been told by a Quins fan earlier on the thread 'not to bother' coming... and now this bloke Kevin the Ferret or whatever he calls himself has said 'We are crap' and 'Come and watch us and expect the worst'
Looks like thats the Quins crowd down by another 1 for the new season.

Expect the worst, and then you can only be pleasantly surprised.'"
I don't disagree with everyone, I would just prefer blerts like Standee don't put off 2 other supporters by forcing them to sit either side of him.

| Bazza you should be used to a sh*t team and poor crowds being a sharks fan. Your Capt this year was an over the hill pie reject
The Aussies didn't even turn up to see their national side play the world champs at the Stoop- The majority are middle class students bumming around pretending to be real hard drinking Aussies.

12,360 turned up according to a website.
Including me
And from what I saw there were hardly any Poms there.
Not a massive crowd... but when you consider probably 90% were Aussies or Kiwis it's not bad.
If your club sold real beer like VB or Steinlager the crowd would probably have been up by a third again.

The Church is probably the lowest form of "entertainment' known to man. What's more worrying is that Bazza apparently has a loyalty card
Not many people know of this interesting fact.
In 1872 the Australians invented the condom, using a sheep's bladder.
In 1873 the English some what refined the idea by taking the bladder out of the sheep first.

| Quote ="Barry_McKenzie"Although it is a bit of a P in the A to get to Twickenham 'The Moon' Stoop from the Hammersmith/She Bu/ Willesden/Harlesden areas of London the main reasons Barry McKenzie never attended a Harlequins RL game were;
1. The team were very poor.
2. No one ever turned up and there was no atmosphere (hence 'The Moon' comment)
3. Harlequins have never had any half decent Aussies that any Antips would want to come and watch since the days of Jimmy Dymock and Dennis Moran when the club was the Broncos.
4. They don't sell VB.
5. I've never heard of any of the players.
6. 80 mins watching Quins RL would be 80 mins of my life I would never get back again.
7. The replica kit is foul and it would induce Glaucoma into anyone foolish enough to part with £45 for a jumper.
If these 7 points were addressed I would deffo have gone along.
Sadly I wont be here in sunny London next year to go along even if I wanted to... but even if I was... I wouldnt.
And I dont know anyone else who would either'"
The reason you dont watch live RL in London is because you're not an RL fan you're an online wind-up merchant that refers to himself in the third person, which proves you are a tw@
on a more positive note! Free parking with the platinum Season ticket! The Season Ticket that just keeps giving!

Yes that would be all well and good if you live near Waterloo - if there is tube lines down which is a possibility on a weekend it is a nightmare to get to!!! this is from first hand experience to!!

Well yes, it's always been easier to get to Twickenham from the Home Counties than from London, that's why the RFU built their national stadium there.

| Its easy to get there from anywhere. England union rahs manage it, Harlequins rahs manage it. If people dont want to go then fair enough, but dont blame the club for being in a suburb of London (as every other sports club in London is). RL fans in the south need to support the club and I think its strange that so many RL fans in the south stay away.

| No matter where the London SL team is based, there will always be a 'journey" for fans to get to games.
Twickenham is served by at least 12 trains an hour from London and a the same (or more) number coming in from outside the area.....then there's [url=http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/gettingaround/maps/buses/pdf/twickenham-2271.pdfTHE BUS ROUTES[/url into Twickenham....there is the North London Overground Train that runs from Stratford to Richmond.....
some people aren't happy unless there is a tube station directly beside the ground
Harlequins Rugby League will start their 6th season in the same ground in 2011. This will be the longest period that the club, in it's SL guise, has stayed put. The problems with attracting crowds has nothing to do with where the club are based, or their tie-in with the Union lot.....people will say that the "brand" gets lost or muddled and the average sports fan mistakes us for a Union team......I say EDUCATE THEM.......don't up sticks AGAIN.....don't change names AGAIN....stick with it and throw some money at the problem.
The ST offer of 99 quid is brilliant.......but pretty useless if you don't tell anyone other than the 2,000 who bought one last year and the other 1,000 who roll up from time to time.

| 1:30 is a long time to get to a game?
Try 2 hours plus for me to get to Leigh these days. The fact we're a bit rubbish doesn't put me off the trip when I can make it.
And the opinions of anyone who thinks VB is actually either 'good' or 'beer' aren't really worth listening to, are they? Especially when 1) He's a pretend convict, 2) Talks about himself in the third person.
No bed.
