Nothing has gone wrong with it, but there is little margin for error. The planning process is painstakingly slow but a decision on the outline application is due next month with full planning ready to submit if outline is approved.
Of course time is of the essence but if Trinity have a suitable Plan B option for the interim which the RFL are happy with then it's not all doom and gloom.

Poor crowds, averaging 3,000 (better than any club in the league this season, not sure how we compared to KR and cas) a season is not poor

Not really , it is exactly the same , last time they let clubs apply with no chance because they didn't have the bottle to be honest about it , this time they have introduced last minute criteria to achieve the same result , but they still havent had the bottle to tell the clubs that even if they did manage to ' tick a box ' by winning the NRC or make a GF , they wont be going up

they have always said that, its people choosing to believe different in spite of all evidence to the contrary that is the problem.
It has never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, everever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, everever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever been a box ticking exercise
from start to finish we have been told that, by everyone, every time at the RFL
They dont need to tell Batley that because the won the NRC they arent going to go up, if Batley is run by anything but a monkey trapped in a mitten it will be clearly obvious that is the case.
Why would they bother encouraging Batley to apply when it is clear that they arent in a better position than Widnes?

You have picked on the one club that has publically stated they will not be applying so your post is pointless
You would have expected an organisation like the RFL to supply the clubs that applied last time with the full criteria for application this time at the begining of the application qualifying period , which would have been mid season 2008 at the latest , not 6 months before the actual application date
The RFL want clubs to plan ' long term ' and yet they are incapable of doing exactly that themselves
They are pathetic

Nah, it wasn't released today to coincide with anything from the RFL. That comment was from the SL show and it's only just worked it's way south of the country for the rugby union.... err i mean league journos to type up. Your point still stands though about just getting the thing built of course. We're already working on plan b in case it all goes tits up. We're working on a massive cardboard cut out so that all who pass on the m62 will see it and think our stadium is built.

| The lunatics are killing the sport as the poop sniffers admire the emperors clothes.
Ditch the farce, go to 2 divisions of 10 FT clubs with 1 up 1 down.
Support expansion as it was meant to be and stone these luvvers out of our sport.

Here's the thing though, despite all the buffoonery from the RFL, the sport is doing well. SL attendances increasing year on year, still great coverage from Sky. That Warrington - Wigan match last week was outstanding - bloody outstanding. The game is far from on it's knees. The RFL just have to act a bit more professionally - especially in the area of licensing.

What claptrap!
A club that finished 5th last year and 8th the year before and also reached the Semi final of the Challenge Cup.
A club whose U18s Academy just won the league. Whose community work is held up as probably the best in the sport by the RFL.
YEAH! UTERLY USELESS!
By September Wakefield could have Outline Planning for the stadium and have full planning submitted. Here's the kicker Wakefield HAVE THE FUNDING to build as soon as they're given the go ahead.

1.5 million a year or 30k a week.......bad management is rife at the club and has been for many years. That said, se your point about a rich benefactor......
Quins will survive but I really hope the RFL make it clear what they have to do in the next 3 years. No wishy washy criteria...give them a total that they MUST spend on marketing (not community schemes...MARKETING) and give them a target of 40% increase in gates by 2012 or it's curtains. We really have had enough time to get it right......they need a fire lit under them IMO.
