I'm not sure the RFL want another French team in SL. Reason one, they could have put Toulouse in when they announced the licences and maybe more significantly reason two. I remember an interview where Richard Lewis was asked a question along the lines of if bringing Toulouse into the Championship was just a way of fast tracking them into SL for the next round of licences. Lewis basically said that by Toulouse being in the Championship it would actually give a better and more visable comparison to the English clubs - lets face if the RFL wanted to put Toulouse in, they would have avoided the potential situation that is happening now where (on the field) Toulouse have failed quite badly and now only have one season to get it right match what Barrow, Widnes and Halifax have already done and ticked the playing performance criteria.

And before anyone cries that its unfair that English clubs can tick the playing performance box by either winning the NRC or getting to the GF, whereas Toulouse cannot enter the NRC - those were the rules they agreed to when they entered - exactly the same as when Widnes were relegated from SL from 11th for Les Catalans and also when Leigh were relegated despite finishing above Toulouse.

Toulouse being in the Championship and not fulfilling the playing performance criteria is far worse than them just staying in the French Elite league and avoiding any comparisons to Championship clubs - kind of reminds me of the saying "better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt" Surely by bringing Toulouse into the Championship, they only way they can gain a licence now is for them to prove they are better than the Championships clubs - this wasn't an issue when they were in the Elite league.

So if, for example sake, Toulouse finish 9th or 10th in the Championship in 2010, can you honestly see them getting a licence when its announced in 2011?

If I remember correctly, the overseas quota Toulouse are allowed next year is less then what they were allowed this year - if they do finish well down the table, surely it would prove there would be absolutely no point in putting Toulouse in SL as to avoid getting tonked every week, they'd have to field team full of Aussies - mind you would the RFL care?

all i care about is my team from a village of 30,000 and surrounded by 3 other SL clubs.

I think your Ausisse i might be wrong but if you are i will let you in to a secret most of the best players are from towns 30k and on last weeks England team there was 4 born and bread in a town of 30k.

I couldn't care less if they shove Toulouse into SL tommorrow , I just dont want them in what was known as the NATIONAL league

I doubt my ' village club ' will ever get into SL ever again and thats fine , but I dont see why it and the other clubs like it should be treated as nothing more than a training ground for clubs from other countrys to prepare for SL

While most of your post was cheap shots and drivel, I agree with your point on the Championship. The RFL said that TO were not in the Championship to be fast-tracked and they (hopefully) won't be promoted to SL if they don't fulfil the criteria. I think that in fact it is MORE of an issue, in that NOT ONLY do TO need to make the GF but they ALSO have to bring through French players, making the GF with a squad full of Ozzies won't get them to SL (if they did, they would find themselves in SL with no French players and would suffer as badly as Celtic did last year - as you said they might as well have been drafted into SL without the two years in the Championship).
On the other hand we have 50 mins of compettitive Rugby played between a mostly non-Catalan French side and the World Cup holders. If TO want to make SL in two years they have to sign all those players and get themselves a top squad - Duport is a good start as he is SL quality, there are more where that came from.

So, I agree that TO have to make the GF, I think they definately can but it will require a big effort to get the top French players, something they didn't do last year.
