| If I had the time or knowledge/capability I would create a Stevo soundboard app for all us RL fans to enjoy. Im sure it would be more amusing than it is on live TV. Every single game. I reckon only about 10% of what he says isnt cliche'd rubbish and thats being generous.

| Lets be fair - there was a cracker last night after Harrison Hansens big hit :-
(Eddie) - ' That was out of the top drawer'
(Stevo) - ' Top Drawer? It was half the wardrobe'

| Is there anyone out there that actually likes the Sky commentary?
Stevo is just way beyond cheese with his ancient catch praises and clueless out dated knowledge of the game.
Eddie, I believe he cant keep up with play and often misses the blatantly obvious. Example - Salford break around the 65 min mark, Fages loses the ball and Danny Tickle kills the danger by kicking the ball dead. Obvious viewing. Yet Eddie only noticed Tickle kicked the ball dead when it went to the video ref.
Phil Clarke - Obsessed with getting his head up the backside of the different flavour of the week. At the min he seems to be deep in love with Salford and is almost like their Lawyer in a court case making the best possible defence he can for them.
Im absolutely certain at least 95% of RL fans think Eddie, Stevo and Phil Clarke need to get axed, even the players on twitter consistent mock their knowledge. Why dont the Sky producers see this? Surely some sort of fan power needs to arise?

| The contrast between the analysis from Sterling and Johns before the Souths/Roosters game and that from Clarke/Stevo & Co is incredible.
The first you actually learn something (Amazing eh? What a novel idea!). The second you just want to press “mute”.

| The one small tiny ray of sunshine (and I'm clutching at straws here!) for me losing my SKY subsciption and having to watch highlights on SLTV is that I don't have to put up with the three amigos of Stevo, Eddie and Clarke.
I totally agree - they just don't bring the same quality as you find with the Aussie broadcasters (who actually know what is going on).
If Sky want to keep SL and the RFL want it to grow and attract a wider audience, then some rebranding and new blood is needed for it's telecast... because at present it just seems cheap - and the commentary team are at the centre of that.
I don't want to turn it into a "geographical debate" - but surely they can find commentators that don't all sound like they're from the same town - mix it up a bit and have some diversity - might then make it seem slightly more "national"
ps... I must be the only one that actually finds Eddie more irritating than Stevo - atleast Stevo is what he says on the tin.... a windbag. Eddie is just frustrating to watch - his love affair of Sam Tomkins whilst he was at Wigan and being the face of SL was just horrible to watch - I think that may have been why Sam wanted out of England - anyone have Eddie down as a stalker?!!

| "got to get the message out, say, 'Come on..." and other bingoisms -
I can't make up my mind whether Stevo realises he does it, or how it grates, but the producer must inexplicably like bingoisms as he can hardly not notice, so you'd have to blame Sky.

I caught the pre-match of Bulldogs -v- Brisbane this morning, with Johns, Finch and Fittler looking at techniques for tackling Tony Williams. In terms of analysis it was a different class and, like you say, the viewer actually learns something about how the game is played.
Also, I watched the Footy Show for the first time last night. Bit too "laddy", but shows what can be done with a bit of effort, enthusiasm and more importantly by showing the personality of the players. Night and day compared to 'Boots and All'. There must be enough players in SL with enough personality to sit on a panel and crack a few jokes in front of an audience, rather than Cullen and Clarke chatting statistics.
I still find it hard to believe that we are stuck with the same commentary team and formats of programming that we had pre-Super League.

| Having said that, I think that BackChat is a pretty good format and is the perfect platform for Stevo, rather than the full time presenting/commenting job.

No your not,
The senile old fool just waffles nonsense all game long, every game.
Take last night, he went on for about 5 minutes talking about whether Adrian Morley had ever played on Widnes pitch before.

Wasn't as bad as the three of them talking about playing golf for a set and a half ... I don't think there is anything in this world I care less about than those 3 playing golf together...

| I think Eddie's obsession with claiming every kick is a '40/20' attempt even though it's nowhere near the touchline and no matter where the ball lands is even more annoying than the Stevo-isms

| Thing what annoys me is everytime something happens it's "oh, he could have been penalised for that" and "That was a penalty surely" and "He was lucky not to be penalised for that".
They always seem to see the negative in everything, kind of like Jonathan Davies.
If Davies commentated on his try scored against the Aussies in '94, his only words would be "that was poor defending".

| EVERY SINGLE INCIDENT they try and create controversy.
Was there a hand in there? Was there a fingertip? He's been badly done to there.
Did he ground the ball? Wasn't that a forward pass?
Just call the game and stop trying to dispute every single decision the ref gives. News flash stevo, when people tackle, hands will be in and around the ball, every time someone loses the ball and it comes into contact with a defenders hand or fingertip doesn't = a steal.
For the love of god.
Surely we can unite together and have something done, I'm just......I'VE HAD IT with these commentators.

Apparently it was Brian Noble's ''350th coaching appointment'', whatever the f*ck that means.
You'd assume he meant 350th game as a coach, but he comes out with howlers like that week in week out, every game.

| At one point during the games last weekend, Eddie had one of his outraged rants about a non-decision that was "SURELY A KNOCK ON!!"....but followed it up with ".....but what do i know?"
Not sure he's ever spoken a truer word.

If there is a clearer statement as to the fans view for both SKY and the RFL to take onboard I don't think I've seen it.

| Eddie can grate from time to time but by and large I think he's pretty good at his job. Clarke is mental but I can't help liking him for his earnest enthusiasm.
Stevo is another matter, though. What he says bears so little relation to what is happening on the pitch it's ridiculous. There was a time when I was amused by his eccentricity, but now I find him genuinely infuriating (whether that's him getting worse or me getting old and intolerant I don't know - probably a bit of both).

| Stevo has turned into a parody of himself. You could just put a recording of his catchphrases on a loop and it'd contribute as much to the commentary as it would if he was actually there,
Fact is, having met the bloke I found he's a likeable character, not at all infuriating. It's the persona he adopts that is the annoying thing.
