| Would liked to have seen Ben Westwood dropped for Gareth Carvell and use Crabtree in the second row.
Correct decision to go with Tomkins and to start James Graham.
I agree with dropping Scott Moore but I don't know how we're going to play that one with no recognised hooker on the bench. Roby to play the 80? Eastmond to move to hooker? Sinfield to nine?
Someone made a good point on the cherry and white forum in that we would look a lot stronger in the centres with Martin Gleeson.

| Sinfield really needs to take control like he does for Leeds.
Roby's passing can be dreadfull at times so it will be interesting to see how he goes.
No complaints with the team really,
Tomkins should have been in for Myler for the France game, and Eastmond can hopefully come on and cause problems too.

Should have been Gleeson and Senior, then the team actually looks pretty strong.

Balls to them two has beens.
They have had their chance on many occasion and have failed to produce anything like what an International player should.
Good on TS for dropping them just like he did with the likes of Pryce & Gardner.

| I don't think Sinfield will be big enough to play loose against Aus, but the only other option is Burgess and we will need his size at prop.
But if you compare Sinfield to Watmough who played 13 last week, well, there is no comparison really is there.

Keith Senior wasn't dropped, he's retired from internationals otherwise he would have walked in.

Not in size no, but their is more to rugby than size! Can he kick goals from the touchline like sinfield can? Can he Pass the ball 50 yards either way and put it into a team-mates hands? Can he take control of a game like sinfield can? Is he a leader? Can he kick a ball in general play and put it exactly where he wants it to go?
The answer to all them is no, so although Watmough is much bigger, stronger and better defensively it doesn't make him a better player!
England allready have a massive pack so i think we can allow for 1 guy at the back of it directing operations.

| well said...
kev is more likely to play as a 2nd stand off than a watmough like 2nd rower/lock
and he really needs to play that midfield general role he does for leeds and take some pressure of the halves, particually tomkins who will be targeted

I've never seen Sinfield do any of those things in a Test. Not one, I don't think, though i'll issue benefit of doubt for a sideline conversion.

Sinfield has never been given a run in the team thats why, 1 poor game and he would be dropped. Smith needs to pick his core players and stick with them to give them game time together.

Yeah i think maybe Ellis to do 80. When Burgess and Crabtree come on (probably together) for Graham and Morley i think Peacock will move upto prop with Crabtree with ellis and burgess in backrow.
Where do you think he's gunna bring Eastmond on?

| The threequarters are the poorest I've seen in over fifty years to represent our country I'm glad Tomkins has been given a run on his home ground i'm sure Smith will have told him to play his natural game.
McGuire and Sinfields last chance for me at international level, both good Super League players but dont perform at a higher level their field kicking, in the past, has been absymal! they have got to run Slater about with short then long kicks otherwise it'll be ................... ops!

its ok saying that but their is no one better at the moment. I disagree that they dnt perform, last year at world cup it was a whole squad thing but i still think mcguire was one of our better players and the year before that when we beat kiwis in the test series he played very well so dnt really know where you get your view from.
Sinfield needs a run of games with the same halfs, youve got no chance if these lads arnt given a bit of time to gel together, they need to build an understanding and changing a team (especially half backs) every game is not helping anybody. It would have made sense to pick the Leeds 6,7,13 combination.

He made himself available for selection again before the sqaud was picked, tony smith simply decided not to pick him.

I've been a big fan of gleeson over the years but he didnt perform in the world cup (admittadley he was nowhere near the worst offender) and has had his worst season that i can remember. I'd say smith was right not to pick him, it might just give the kick up the a*se he needs to bring his game back up to its former level and give us some more options for centre next year.

Yeah i heard that, surely its up to Smith though to ask the player, Keith probably just didn't want to blow his own trumpet to much and take selection for granted, he was making enough noises to suggest that if the call came he would have played!

| keith has blown his own trump, if he wanted to play he should have made that clear to the coach...not gone to the press and said "if you want me come and ask me"
it's that kind of attitude that cocked our world cup up...we're a team not a group of individuals
