That's what you get when you chose 80% of the squad from two teams. i think the "minnows" of the tournament showed us what team bonding can do to overcome lack of talent! Scotland were a great example.

We stayed in the same hotel as the players in Townsville, and it was quite obvious then that they were split into three groups, Leeds, Saints and the others.

However I don't believe for one minute that that was the only reason England performed so poorly but IMO it was a contributing factor.

Taking only one fullback and only four prop forwards certainly didn't help, and neither did taking two of the biggest offenders for conceding penalties.

England RL, I think, needs to learn a LOT about team management because this is just ammaturish.

Winning and losing at the very top is a matter of millimetres and microseconds and to allow such a major part of the team building to be simply left to luck is simply unnaceptable.

Team selection failed.
Team management failed.
Tour failed.

The more this goes on the more I'm starting to think England's poor performances can be attributed to it being "that time of the month".

And the idea that two little clubs in northern England just couldnt gel, please. Take a look at other teams at the World Cup and how many different clubs, states and countries they had to get to gel together.....its laughable to suggest that England was fighting against some great burden no one else had!


At the end of the day, all those players that were so important to be involved in inter club bickering which playing for England had one thing in common. They couldn't play Rugby League to save their lives.
