see......again, schooling down there isn't the best is it. As an Irishman, it pains me to say this, but the Brits invented most of the decent sport played on this planet. The fact that these games are so popular around the world is because the imerialistic british went around conquering most of the planet. Soccer, an English game, was actually introduced to the Americas by us Irish, in the shape of the kiddy fiddlers run from Rome. Rugby has always been seen as an aspirational sport for the middle classes in the commonwealth to be associated with the English. Same with Cricket. As for RL, it was created out of a need to ensure that working class people could play the game and keep their jobs, with no loss of pay and as the people who were shipped to the rock all those years ago were sent there by the middle classes, it is patently obvoius why League was adopted by Australians. It's like the ARL......which is simply a ised version of GAA......

See, history, wherever it is taught, generally sticks to the facts of what happened and I am sure that I heard somewhere that there's a hotel in Huddersfield where RL was born....but my little re-offender, don't let a little thing like facts get in the way.
It may well be that you crims are better at League (and most other sports), but the simple Facts are, you have and in all probability, never really provided much in the way of new ideas to the global table, in any dicipline. Sheep is what you shear and sheep is what you are.....you go where and do as you are told.

Don't give their overblown ego's too much credit. When you actually look at world sports they are only really any good at RL and passable at swimming and cricket.

Rugby League (The northern rugby Union) wasn't born in The George Hotel in Huddersfield? Ok.....so where was the first split from the RFU that created a game we now called rugby league created?
So, the English didn't bring it to Australia eh? Did one of you lot nick it then? The meeting that took place in Bateman's Crystal Hotel in 1907.....and it was just a coincidence that the name and rules applied were pretty similar (try almost exactly the same) to those developed in the North of England.....
So, just so I am clear here.......YOU INVENTED A GAME THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN INVENTED AND ROLLED UP A YEAR LATER ON A TOUR PLAYING THE SAME RULES.....spooky. Some one call the X-files.
