I don't agree with all this pee taking, at the end of the day it's the fans that get hurt the worst if anything happens to their club, I just think WHEN you get this mess sorted your BOD have really got to start ticking the correct boxes when it come to running an RL club, it's ok having a decent team on the field every other year but the team isn't everything, the facilities are just as important, Wakefield fans deserve to watch the greatest game in the world from good facilities just as much as any other fans do, your new BOD need to keep ontology of everything from now on and try keep you in the papers for the right reasons, it's just seems like there's something every other year with Wakefield it's got to stop for the sake of the wakey fans and RL in general.

There's a brand new stadium lurking in the background, but its delivery is based on a s106 agreement; before construction starts, the developer needs to build out something like 60,000m2 of warehousing/distribution facilities. The first element is sold, but that leaves a way to go. Best estimates are that works will start in 2015.

In the meantime, thanks to the manoeuvrings of a previous Chairman, BV is actually owned by the Bank of Ireland; that may explain the reluctance of the new BoD to over-invest in a facility that will a) become superfluous to requirements b) isn't owned by the club and c) now operates in a comp where minimum standards have fallen by the wayside.

It's just a shame that BV wasn't considered iconic enough to be saved from evil property developers by the governing body; although I doubt they'd be naïve enough to do that for one club but not for another.

Wakefield have a great playing surfice but the stadium is in really poor shape. How they fit 8k in there is anyones guess.

I'm not an expert but I would guess 8k is achievable because the actual capacity is around 11k.

The majority of the ground is standing. Approx 2000 down either side 5k behind the sticks, 1500 seats and 500 in the hospitality box.

Shows how stupid it 'twas for the RFL to insist on ground improvements as part of a continued presence in SL, wakefieldar e proving that an old club who wins on the field should just be left to get on with it, it's a proven success........oh.

Must be heartbreaking for Wakefield fans, just as the club seemed to be getting back on their feet, another big setback. Their is space and potential for a big club in that area, one to rival Leeds and Wigan, unfortunately we saw 100 years of three clubs worrying about being the biggest club in the WF postcode rather than trying to be the biggest in the country. Wakefield need their new stadium, if they can get it, they can sort their future, if not it's likely a slow death awaits. The same goes for Cas. We could very well end up with no professional RL left in the WF postcode n the next few years. Let's hope not

Surely the biggest issue here is the admission to only selling 2k season tickets. The ground will get resolved, but how do they resolve their low ST sales?

Don't think Wakefield fans are too fussed about the issue. The shedding of all these crocodile tears is amusing though.

How do they resolve low season ticket sales? Sell more. A lot of people have thrown their teddy out and refused to get a S because of how the clubs has been run. To me that’s cutting you nose off to spite you face but hey who am I to tell people what to do.

I'm not saying Cas are on the verge of admin or anything, just that a new stadium is integral to their sustainability, staying where they are would be a slow death for them.

Merging Wakey and Cas is a ridiculous solution to what is perhaps the game's biggest problem, namely that no team has developed itself sufficiently to take either of their places. Had that happened, then one or both would have been replaced at the top level by now. The view that a merger would in some way be "for the good of the game" completely ignores the almost complete failure of other teams, both traditional and expansion, and the game as a whole to put together anything better. In that context, I wait with less-than-bated breath to see what Koukash achieves with Salford.

Nope, seen that at plenty of other stadiums over the years and even some of the new ones. Insects get everywhere!!

OK - its taking us some time, but we will get our new stadium in the end. Rugby league and Belle Vue has been around for 130 years or more. Is it really such an issue that it may take us an extra ten years or so to get our new facilities. We don't all have rich football teams or sugar daddies or even sympathetic councils, although we do seem to have turned that latter corner.

Wakey wouldn't get planning for any new stands at BV. I have always said that Cas should redevelop the ground starting with the main stand to run the full length of the side

Apart from the fact they have planning for a new stadium at Newmarket, please explain why they wouldn't get planning for new stands at BV (not withstanding the fact that funds are not available)

from what I was told it was concrete cancer where the reinforced bars had blown causing more problems than just the barriers, I expect we will have the same problem in areas

if there's a way round it so we can increase the capacity as the season goes on then so be it, either way if this what we can do to aid more survival time then I help ass much as its needed

Indeed. The wasps are currently on loan at London. Kieron Dixon now fears for his place on the wing as the wasps are thought to be better in defence.

Yeah I would imagine the club will be just trying to spend on belle vue before the new stadium.
Wakey are in a difficult position to be fair. Do they spend a lot of money and fix the problem outright? Could be a waste of money they don't really have if the new stadium comes about quickly.
On the other if they only do remedial work to "patch it up" and there's a delay in the new stadium then it could end up costing more in the long run.
Leeds went for the patching up option, hoping to rebuild the South Stand soon anyway. But Leeds City Council in their infinite wisdom (bunch of t0ssers) denied planning permission, so we had to spend more money a year or so ago to make proper repairs.

It's a temporary reduction at a stadium we've occupied for well over 100 years, unlike Fulham, Charlton, Stoop, Griffin Park and wherever else the Crusading Bronco Harlequins have been in the last five minutes.
