Poor junior development .
Yes Hull need some recognition, presumably playing to a full cap, yet performing like they average about 3000 fans.

| Wakefield have one of the best junior development systems in SL!
Anyone that doubts it should look at their own SL squad and see how many wakie born/trained players you actually have. If we could hold on to our youngsters (which we will when we have our new ground) we will be up there! Just like our Young Wildcats!

Not really We are playing boring rugby and the negativity about the stadium has filtered through the whole club. And to that that we've got nothing to play for and many fans just can't be bothered.
Think this thread is a week early anyway. Should've waited til next week when we pull in 2500 vs Catalans.

Cas averaged 5424 when they were in NL1.

| If anyone looks at the Championship attendances on a regular basis, I'd be inclined to say that it actually was a decent crowd. You won't get much higher that that unless its a final.
We were up against Saints V Wigan and with the game being a 7.30pm kick off I expect alot fo Fax fans couldn't make it over for kick off, as they only had about 200.

We've not had those sort of crowds ever in this league , we were getting around the 2500/3000 mark back in 2001
But several close shaves resulted in disolousionment and we were down to 1800 when we eventually won promotion 2004
Now we have the new stadium , but it has been a big disappointment , the timing has been wrong as well with the ending of automatic promotion losing a few hundred
Will Basil's return help build up the ave's again ? , possibly but we wont be troubling SL again unless some clubs implode

But then again comparing Cas attendances in the big games in 2007, to Widnes now is not a fair comparison. When Cas were in NL1 it was all about promotion and relegation - the final being dubbed as the million pound game (when in fact it was probably worth many times that amount).
I think its a fairly safe bet that if Cas had been out of SL for a period of 4 consecutive years and were also on the 1st year of at least 3 years of non promotion, they wouldn't be getting the crowds that they got back in 2007.

crowds in top division RL have grown a lot since back in the 70s/80/early 90s.
just increased away support will add much more than those eras.
if they start off at 6000 - 7000 in years 1 /2 in SL and then start building a good side on the park, they i dont see why adding 3000 + to their crowds is that big a deal.
if franchising is to work properly, i think all heartland teams must be averaging at least 10,000

While I am also of the opinion that we only actually have 6/7 true Super clubs in SL , just which other clubs do you suggest are available to either improve or match what we already have ?
A simple question , will you give a simple answer

None of the stadiums in SL are inadequate , they all fullfill what those clubs need to play SL at the moment
Far too much is made of Stadia , rather than what happens on the pitch

agree with the sentiment but i understand why people dont always want to come to belle vue as you are open to the elements (although on a warm day cant beat it). the willows has cover if you want it as well as terracing. when there's a few in its a decent atmosphere. all they should do is tart it up and maybe improve the facilities a bit, cant imagine it would cost that much. oh and get some stronger flood lights

I perfectly understand the ' franchise ' process thanks
So tell me which clubs are unable to fit all the people that want to attend in their stadium ?
Which stadium sells all its seating capacity out for all its games ?
Which other club apart from Widnes will improve SL from the level it currently is at ?

crowds would be higher in newer stadiums than the jungle, BV and the willows. these clubs can not progress into clubs that can challenge the likes of leeds and st helens in their current grounds. therefore you have 3 heartland clubs essentially wasting space
add CC and Quins that arent that strong either and you have a league dominated by the same teams.
at least hull fc, warrington and huddersfield can build and challenge the big clubs.
until at least all your heartland clubs challenge the top clubs regularly your league wont progress.
other than widnes there are not many other standout candidates.
potentially halifax but time will till
id thought leigh in their new ground would progress but they havent.
edit : toulose would add more to SL in terms of expansion and strength of club and crowds than wakey or salford.

The most important thing after what happens on the pitch
The best sporting events have atmosphere and that is best created in older grounds rather than modern ' stadia ' if they are not full , and unfortunatley very few if any matches play to anywere near full capacity
