| He didn't pay to sack Phil Vievers. He didn't pay an obscene amount for Rangi Chase. He didn't pay £100k for Tim Smith. He didn't pay a fee for Gareth Hock. He hasn't spent upto to the cap on wages. He hasn't brought in a new Chief Executive and Commercial Manager. He didn't pay for 3 weeks in South Africa during pre season.
The guys broke and hasn't spent a penny.

Big words, can you please quantify this

Nigel Wood claiming, me and Lenagan have criticised the TV deal in order to help fill our stadiums . Has anyone bought a Ticket as a result?
Marwan Koukash @drmarwanK · 6h
Nigel says the sport received a 63 % uplift in Sky TV monies. Interesting but we got less than 25 % this year.
Marwan Koukash @drmarwanK · 6h
Read a very interesting article by Nigel Wood, he says owners in the sport need to be more factual , accurate and objective. I Agree
I can't see Nigel Wood being "fine" with this sort of on-line ranting....'"
Look Mr Kiwi - Wood, Hetherington, Mrs Hetherington etc have not put a brass farthing into Rugby League. They have only taken out. Wood is a well paid 'Guardian' of the Sport - he is not a Dictator so the Chairman of any club has the right to 'rant'.

I seem to recall him not paying an obscene amount for chase (it was suggested on the Salford board it was roughly 100k no?) and similarly wasn't smith 70k?
There's no doubt he's put money into the club. But he's not actually outspent what others have done, Wigan went to America, Warrington to aus - none of the transfer fees have been eye watering etc. For all his gumption, he's not exactly ripping up trees financially - others in the sport are still spending more/ doing things better.
(That's no criticism of him, Rome wasn't built in a day and all that, but his criticisms of the sport might be better placed if he'd already exhausted every avenue available to him - things like sport science tech centres, an army of coaches and advertising budgets aren't included in the salary cap, but he's not blown anyone away.)

Your opinion certainly differs from those who accused him of breaching the salary cap.
The squad of Salford Red Devils - including a whole new batch of strength and conditioning coaches etc.went to South Africa for warm weather training in January.
A players lounge has been constructed at the stadium and a gymnasium.
He is a proven winner in another sport - the one described as the sport of kings.I think you need a little bit of cash to partake in that sport.
All the posters on this thread would not be able to match his wealth.
Please carry on denigrating an individual putting money into the sport and raising it's profile and newsworthiness.
It's not even just an English thing, seemingly;just a rugby league followers thing.

I'm amazed he's spending up to the cap on the team he's constructed, if you compare it to the top 5 or 6 I wonder how (but I'm not going to get into that argument again!)
I know he's hired a new team of backroom staff to go with his on field spendings, but compared to wigans off field army of coaches it seems like more can be done. It's not like he's brought in 25 hyperbaric chambers for each member of the squad.
I don't doubt his wealth, but the amount he acts like he spent, and has actually spent don't quite align in my eyes. Given his talk about marquee players, he seems quite prudent in other areas (something I never imagined saying 12 months ago with all his talk)
I am starting to raise questions about the level of pr (but I'll leave that line of discussion for another day)

not really its seems very thought out toward franchising, it would take a genius to market the design or name.

The story about the Good Dr is more about property development than RL........meanwhile, there's a bloke from Swinton who has invested £13,500,000 in a SL club since 2008 and got not a brass farthing back (nor will he)....that's because he's interested in RL.
Good Luck to the Dr, but he is a business man and other than maybe Leeds and possibly Wigan, owning a SL club isn't about getting a ROI.

He's not going to do that the way he has gone about it. Teams that win things produce their own top quality players. Rather than throwing money at sewage rats like Hock he'd do well to throw money at bringing through young players.

No, no you don't.
Cas - not looked close to a trophy in god knows how many years, but are bringing through some great young players, as well as some of they're former youth team members maturing with the club (like huby)
Warrington - been consistently on the rise for the last 10 years or so, yet to produce any talent of real note.
(To both Warrington and cas fans, this was not a slant at either of your teams, and I don't want to get into a "but this one time" arguments, it is merely a generalised statement)
Success doesn't breed good youth development, good youth development breeds success. I feel like I've said this before

And yet Warrington have been more successful than Cas in recent years.
What breeds success is big piles of money, sensibly managed. Tbh, I think you need both a top team and top development. But if I had to choose I'd rather win like Warrington than be admired like Cas. Different clubs in different circumstances, obviously.

Youth is the long game. Koucash presumably wants to attack it from all angles.
Invest in youth for the future (to be fair, Salford already produce a few decent youngsters), but gt some big names in to attract the species and get them away from the foot of the table.
Its very hard to buy success for a club like Salford. They've proably had to pay over the odds to get players to join them (compared to them signing for a club like, say, Leeds), but the higher up the table they get, the less this will apply to future signings.

This is the most sensible thing posted on this thread (though of course, it could lead to another 20 pages of what sensibly managed means )
(And I only used cas because if I used one of the big clubs, who are just as successful as Warrington, apparently buying players in the 80s means that it doesn't count. That said looking at the table right now, it's definitely looking brighter for cas than wire! )
Every club, regardless of budget has the opportunity to blood, and retain their best young players. But some teams do it better than others. You don't need success to do so, and it irritates me people saying you need success for youth development, because it's just a lazy excuse imo.

Money's certainly never a bad thing.
My club have a shiney new stadium and are building towards financial stability, but it taken a boat load of cash to be spend and written off by the "investors".
What puzzles me about the London thing, Gutterfax says that his man has invested/poured away over £13mil into the London broncos and they are looking weaker than ever. SURELY a man who has that sort of cash to play with has the business acumen to make a half decent job of it (or access to people to do it for him)?
