| Lets not let Liam Watts, Joe Arundel and Jason Crookes get in the way of a good rant.
Also, Chase is an England international so that quote isn't strictly wrong.

| He never said that we will only be signing young and British players in future. Pearson has stated that we already have 6 players signed up for next season, and that we've mainly been looking at players that are young and British for these signings.
He also said that we're still looking to add a halfback and another prop. These were stated separately to the 6 players already signed who are mainly young and British. Presumably, if we were to sign Chase he would be the halfback mentioned here, as the other 6 are already said to have signed.
In recent months, Hull have signed both Jay Pitts and Liam Watts (England Knights), as well as announcing the signing of Joe Arundel (England Knights). It has also been widely reported and rumoured that we have also signed Jason Crookes, although this has not been confirmed by the club yet.

| Quote ="Wadski"Hull announce a policy of only signing quality British talent, then follow it up with McGoldrick and Chase. You couldn't make it up.
Why publicly announce the policy if you aren't going to abide by it?'" Well, McGoldrick won't be here next season and Seymour will probably be replaced by an excellent British scrum half that you may know quite well, so there would really only be Chase and Heremaia from overseas here next season as it stands at the moment.

You might want to read that piece again as you're clearly struggling to understand it.

I wasn't aware that Tangi Ropati pressed charges
It would give many people on here a chuckle if he was unable to get a visa. Given that some players have had their visa rejested for DD, assault could easily get him rejected.
Hulls loss could be a Bartercard Cup teams gain. It's a shame he didn't sign for Wigan, as a Saints fan I was looking forward to seeing a Chase/Smith half back combination.

I wouldn't worry, dear old Gronk will be there as a witness swearing blind the CCTV shows it wasn't Rangi's fist but that Rangi hit the bloke with his [iback[/iside.
He may struggle though, Greg Eastwood's visa was delayed for a year over a bloody speeding conviction, I think he'll be lucky to get a visa with a GBH conviction.

That was one of the most ridiculous things to happen in regards to transfers I've seen in RL...apart from maybe the Higham to Bradford then to Wigan on the same day thing

Someone who works with UKBA on visa applications has suggested that this shouldn't be the sort of issue the press are making it out to be. I guess we'll see.

It was a bit bloody silly, along with not letting Greg Bird in despite not being convicted of anything!

Don't you have to have an English passport to play for England? That would make him eligible to work over here.

| I can't say I'm thrilled. Yes he was last year's Man of Steel but he's too individual for me and he could be a bad influence. I would have much preferred Daniel Holdsworth from Salford.

| The fact that he got a visa and was admitted to the UK after the conviction suggests to me that the visa issue is being overplayed. Of course it could be a problem, but I'd be surprised given the precedents. Greg Bird was admitted to the UK every other week with a conviction a few years back, and Rangi can change his visa here, he doesn't have to go outside the country

Well he's fooled his fellow professionals who voted him Man of Steel, journalists who voted him winner of the Albert Goldthorpe Medal, Howie Tamati who picked him for the Maoris, Brian McLennan who selected him for the Exiles and Steve McNamara who selected him for England.
Still what would them lot know, eh?

He was convicted at the end of April 2009 (and obviously later acquitted) but his visa was rejected back in February 2009.
They had to let him in the country every other week as he gained a French visa.
Re Chase, while the incident occurred before he joined Cas he wasn't convicted until last year, so it could well affect any new visa application. Obviously I'm no expert, but given the examples mentioned already plus a few others I'd be surprised if it's not a factor in his visa decision even if he still gets one.
