What I expected really, although the lack of a hooker on the bench would worry me even though we know Roby can do the full 80, against the Aussies and NZ he will probably need a rest, and we dont need Sinfield at 9!

Its a luxury having a hooker on the bench at Test level.
Cam Smith plays 80 minutes, The Kiwis have Luke but he can cover the Halves spots if needed and could probably player anywhere in the backs or even Lock at a pinch.
Surely Sinfield can be moved to Hooker and bring Widdop on?

i think rangi chase playing for england is disgraceful and shows how mcnamara lacks faith in any english talent. he has no english heritage, his only claim is that he has lived here for 3 years which is quite frankly rubbish. also, he has played against england for the exiles, how does this make sense. a team of new zealand and australians playing in england can have players who then play for england. its a joke.

that being said, i have no problem with widdop or reed playing as they have english parents and were born here but moved to australia.

also, sinfield is a loose forward, gareth widdop has played at 6 for arguably the best team in the world at the moment, second best at worst, in the best league in the world, he should be 6. sinfield should play 13.

Disagree about Wilkin, He has been one of Saints better players this year.

Bench for me is a bit light would prefer two props on there.

Yeah, but I can't see France making this an issue somehow.

Why's that? Apart from the bench, that is the strongest England team in many years.

Sinfield has tried and failed at test level before. Don't know why this year will be any different. With no internationals next year (as far as I'm aware) we need to be looking towards the 2013 World Cup. Will Sinfield be England's starting 6 in two years time?

For me, it’s a good team and agree with an earlier comment that its one of the strongest looking England/GB teams for quite a while

I would have gone with the Widdop/Chase half back pairing but I can see some sense in Sinfield, I just hope he gets to boss the team as he does Leeds – and I guess he can move to 9 and Widdop to 6 if we get injuries or tactically

Other than that, my main concern is it is a lightweight bench and I would have had another prop on there (Carvell), we will certainly need that against the Aussies and Kiwis

But he's got an Aussie accent which makes him far superior to anything we can produce.

I take it people bagging Heighington don't watch much NRL? He is not an English-style loose forward. He's a classic Aussie-style loose forward - will do a lot of cleaning up and covering in defence and take the ball up as an extra second row.

And for those having a go at Reed, please have a look at some of his performances for the Broncos this year - he is way better than average, and Big League Week selected him in their NRL best of side. I've seen almost every game he's played this year, and he is a better all-round player than any British centre right now.

Don't really agree with this argument of looking to the future and "he isn't any good at international level"

For me the team should be selected on form and form players picked not on reputation, past failings etc.

As Danny buderus said when he left, we should worry about the league and the international games take care of theirselves. Whether sinfield should be included in the team can be debated, but his past failingsshouldnt come into it. We would have a team of rookies if past failings was criteria for selecting the team

I have no problem with sinfield playing standoff for Eng. He is a good organiser. Would have preferred to see Chase and Widdop in the halves though with an eye on the present and future. Good selection dilemma to have.

If England were to play Sinfield at 13 he wouldnt be there to direct the team, at 6 i would hope this is his role. He should either be there as first reciever, left or righ pivot, or not in the side at all. At 13= pointless, bench= pointless

If we're picking on form why is Sam Tomkins in the team? He's been useless since he agreed his move to Union.

He has been useless against Australia for some time.
