| Not particularly ambitious and doesn't leave a huge amount of room for a club in a league aiming for a 10k average minimum
Saying that it's better than nothing if it comes off, but we have been here before and ended up no further forward,
Good luck to them I hope it comes off

You sound like a sales rep for some building company.
I will be amazed if any developers have the money to splurge on a risky investment like Wakefield -- especially when Castleford will have a gleaming new stadium so close by.
It will be like pouring scarce money down a rathole, since Wakefield don't have the local paying fan base that a more prosperous community like Warrington has.

| Good news for Wakefield.
My only hope (and this isn't a slight at Wakey) is that the place doesn't just become a clone of plenty of other new grounds that are cropping up in all sports, not just RL, although I suspect that it will - cost is the ultimate factor in all of this.
Places like the Halliwell Jones, the JJB, Halton all offer the sort of facilities that we expect but they all look a bit, well, uninspiring. Sports venues as supposed to be places of passion, places of ambition and success. They should have a character.
The aforementioned three just look to me as if they have been designed by an accountant with nothing more than an IKEA catalogue for inspiration. Compare those with the designs at Castleford or Salford (if they ever come off) or the new development at Leicester. You can have a modern, state-of-the-art venue and still have somewhere that looks unique.

If it gets us an A Grade Franchise i for one won't care if it is a HJ, our design when we were planning the park project was of a similar design to Doncasters, but as long as it maintains (and expands) our brand then i don't care.
The other developments in the area that have come from this company are hardly what you would call influenced by ikea.

Can't help it i'm going to bite the worm on the hook!
You know nothing! Sir Rodney Walker is one of the most respected men to be connected with our sport in living memory. He has more involvement within the political workings of sporting representation and development than anyone else in our game. Look at his profile, look at the councils he sits on, the projects he has spearheaded.
No-one in RL is better equipped to lead and fund this project, corporate fundraising is what Mr Walker is WORLD FAMOUS for..
The developers are sound too, they have other developments around our area and they are very impressive.
Watch this space. In fact scratch that. WATCH THIS TEAM!!!

| Taking away Albert's usual bollox - the message couldn't be simpler. Plans are easy - now go and build the bloody thing. Having witnessed Halifax trying to complete a stand for the last 10 years I know how frustraring things can get. The stadium back slapping for Wakefield, Castleford and Salford should begin when the contractors sign off on a completed stadium.
Good luck - hope this turns into reality.

To be fair, the 'look' of the build is probably the least important thing, yet the one thing most people tend to judge on.
The most important factor is the facilities, after all, I don't know about you, but I go to watch the rugby not the stadium and it's the fans that give the place it's character, not the architecture.
Back to Wakey, good luck to them, I hope this comes off. If ever a club deserves some good luck it's them.

| It's a decent size for a stadium and should be more than adequate for their immediate needs. It will likely be able to be extended if required in the future as well.
Good news for Wakey, and a welcome poke in the eye for those sad souls who have spent the past few months gloating over the collapse of the last project and predicting their exit from SL as a result.

That is just temporary on field form. It has nothing to do with the social and economic strength of the club.
The fact of the matter is that Hull FC are a massive rugby league club, with great tradition, with a much more substantial fan base than Wakefield. That is why they were able, in cooperation with the Hull City football club, to have the KC built -- a wonderful purpose built stadium that I enjoy attending as a visiting fan, and that that they can actually fill with people from the city of Hull!
Hull FC also happens to have a great junior set up and the best club website in Super League.
The city and the developers knew that Hull FC could back up its claims. Wakefield just doesn't have the community strike power or national presence that Hull FC has.
Those from Wakefield who want to compare themselves favourably with Hull FC are living in a fantasy world.
But once again, the bottom line is the economic climate. It is hard to see it happening in time for the 2011 franchise decision. With all its other problems, Wakefield could see itself back in the championships, battling it out with Leigh, Halifax, and Whitehaven.
The only realistic solution is to have a Calder United Super League club, with Wakefield, Castleford, and Featherstone in the Championship division functioning as feeder clubs with their own hard core club supporters. Then the money and the fan base will be there for a 15,000 seater Calder stadium! This is not my original idea, I am happy to admit. Sir Maurice Lindsay, one of the most astute judges in the game, proposed this 15 years ago!
