| A small minority yes, but every club has its idiots. It just really annoys me when a club tries to improve itself (and the games image) and opposition supporters just slag that club off. Rugby League supporters have a bad habit of being negative about most things that don't concern their own club. We should all be shouting from the rooftops about our game, not dumbing it down.

It is indeed a minority (hence my use of the word 'gang'), but unfortunately for Warrington they are extremely vocal, make their presence known throughout games by gathering next to the away end and often take their threats too far and go looking for violence outside the ground.
Most Wire fans are the same as any other RL fan - there to watch the game and up for banter and a laugh, and have my respect. Wigan vs Wire is always an epic game and your fans do you justice.
Not that lot of gutter trash though.
In all seriousness, the development of the ground is fantastic news.

I pretty much agree with everything you've said, especially about the negativeness EXCEPT for the first phrase. They are a minority but its a rather large minority and growing imo. Anyway, glad to see the ground improvements, I just wish they hadn't had the reduction in the first place and we'd now be looking at a 16,500 capacity for next season

It wouldn't surprise me if this time next year the club announces the extension of the other two corners in time for 2013.

To be fair you get the same kind of thing at the KC from over to your left as you look at the field of play.

To some extent I do agree with you, it's just that every time a club does something positive someone just knocks it down. This doesn't happen in RU. Even Bloodgate got a positive outcome from RU fans!
I'm also not closing my eyes to the problems the club has in one corner of the ground and it needs to be sorted out. I was speaking to one of the'casuals' in a pub in Cardiff. I might as well have been talking to a brick wall. Complete idiot. Names like the Warrington Casuals and Wigan Ultras also bother me. They are taken directly from well known football hooligan gangs and can only mean one thing.

No need to be sorry mate.
It's good for the sport that the stadium capacity is being increased with this extension work. I loathe Warrington but clearly they feel their is enough demand to warrant such an extension so good luck to the buggers.
I need a word with myself after saying that. Here's to hoping Leeds beat 'em though

| the steel work is now going up on both the Saints New Stadium and on the Tesco retail part of the build. Happy days. Once the steelwork has started it seems to grow at a rapid speed.

The cash is coming from a developer and isn't coming from the club therefore it was'nt at the disposal of the club so they could'nt use it to stave off administration.
The club has now been bought by a wealthy local business man and financing the club is no longer an issue at Wakefield, they've even said that spending up to the full cap is now possible/probable.
The issue of the stadium is now one for the Governments Public Inquiry machine and if/when the decision to go ahead is given York Court Properties have stated that building can commence immediately because full funding is secured.
There is also a section 106 clause which states that the Stadium must be the first building to go up on the new development.

| I'm delighted with Salford getting a new stadium and its progress, however am I the only one concerned with the location? I know it's not next to the Mersey but isn't there a risk of it being another [iLegend Of Boggy Creek[/i scenario? Wigoon's pitch is bad enough and the last thing we want is a mini-swamp no matter if the locals are used to it in other sports.

It will certainly smell like boggy creak due to th sewage works next door.
For what its worth though Saints new ground isnt out of the woods smell wise either, as on certain days the fumes from Pilkingtons glass works chimneys waft over the nearby retail park and make the area near PC world and B&Q smell of rotten eggs.

| The South Stand at Leeds is rumoured to be scheduled for demolition in August straight after the Cas game with The Rhinos playing their last home fixture against Wakefield and potential play-off games at another venue, likely to be Elland Road of course. The new replacement South Stand (along with the first new pitch for 80 years) is due to be opened in time for start of 2012 season.
The lodgers will probably still play at Headingley and just do without the South Stand we assume?
