Can't agree there mate. The RFL could have spent 50p promoting this series and it still should have sold out - twice. We had the garbage crowds for teams in the play offs, which almost certainly wouldn't happen in other sports, so I can only surmise that yes, RL fans are a lot lazier than other sports fans.

A big element of this is the 'pay on the gate' culture we have on RL, where a lot of people don't buy tickets and some don't end up bothering if it rains etc etc. Get everyone in the habit of 'buying a ticket or miss out' and things may change....but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I like the cut of your jib, a lot of RL fans are simply lazy, and then feel they have a right to moan with 'poor crowds' and 'poor national exposure' bla bla bla. The simple way to beat this, is buy a ticket and go to the game, this game (being 25k) should have sold out weeks ago.

The only problem i have is that the rfl didn't market the tournament, but in the end, all genuine RL fans knew the tournament was happening.

Part of the problem is in 30 odd years we havent been able to win anything worth winning in a competition between 3 contestants

Add that to the recession , our pathetic performances in the WC , a losing of interest among non SL fans and a general club before country attitude

We are a small regional sport and will remain a small regional sport

If this doesnt sell out then its a kick in the knackers for the RFL who've priced this VERY cheaply and may not do so again.
I simply can't listen to anymore of these excuses, completely shocking.
We couldn't even beat the worst australian team in history in 2003 that had about 18 first choice players missing (Craig Wing in the centre? wtf??), never mind one of the best backlines to have ever graced the sport.
We've never had a chance of winning a series and regardless we should be there supporting our country.

Good that it has done that but that is hardly a major achievement though is it? It should have sold out weeks or months ago from RL fans alone, never mind any casual fans.

The thing is, they [iwill[/i too. Some RL 'fans' are just plain weird. It almost puts me off the game and if it wasn't so good, I wouldn't follow a sport with as many moaners, small minded clowns and whingers as RL.

Thats what happens in any divided organisation, the family bickers amongst itself. I thought long and hard about bothering but my detest of the RFL was overcome by my love of what I believe RL to be, and that needed my support.

Nothing to do with SL or non SL. Rugby League is littered with moaners from top to bottom. They seem only happy when things are going t1ts up, this means they can say 'we told you so' whilst offering knack all condtructive themselves.

That's a strange one. Strnage because next year there is the soccer world cup and you will definitely see fans from lower or non league clubs there displaying flags. These clubs have zero chance of joining the premier league but still seem to back their national side. Perhaps the fault is parochial RL fans?

If you don't get it already, then no amount of persuasion will help you understand. I completely understand the disenchantment of these who feel cut off by the RFL and the Super League elite as a whole, though I will be attending the game on Saturday as per.

Although I'll probably never fully understand how you feel I can get an idea. I have friends who support Halifax, Rochdale and Whitehaven and it's a touchy subject. When I get back home I try to watch whatever rugby league I can, whether it be at Wigan, Oldham or St Judes. I'll be at Saints v Wigan on December 27th and am hoping to get to the boxing day derby at Widnes.

Those footy clubs you talk about do have a clear path to the premiership , unlike most heartland Championship clubs to SL , unlikely I know , but still a clear path , ask the Notts County fans
