| I actually complained about the Inside Out report. Haven't heard back yet and it's over the 'usual' 10 days they say.

The misleading nature of the report, no explanation of what the £60m+ "debt" was made up of, whether it was serviceable etc. I think I described it as shoddy.

George Rilaey was scabbing on The Superleague Show after Tanya Arnold refused to cross the picket line.

Did you mean George Riley? - what if he is not a member of the NUJ? or perhaps he doesn't agree with the dispute? I would thought King Arthur would have aptly demonstrated what happens to lemmings.

After his "expose" on Superleague finances, if he had been a member of the NUJ, I'd hope they'd rip his card up and drum him out of the union.
Notwithstanding that, he's still a scab and Tanya Arnold should be applauded

Why is that - because he had the nerve to defy the union? I as said pity a few didn't have the nerve to defy Arthur!!

Have you thought that he just may not have agreed with them?
It is surely down to the individual if they work or not? It is not betraying anything.
People with your attitude are partly responsible for the downfall of British industry, because while you lot were all 'one out all out' in the seventies over a broken tea machine the japanese and Koreans were getting on with the job.

Yeah, god forbid people stand up for themselves, their jobs, their working conditions and so on... BBC top brass keeping jobs and high pay packets whilst ordinary journos get shown the door is something anyone in their right mind would support any union fighting against. Unless, of course, the attitude from people is "I'm alright, Jack."
I'm sure the Japanese and Koreans enjoy wonderful working conditions and countless workers' rights, after all.
Anyway, we're getting into Sin Bin territory here...

Couldn't agree more!
Not that I would expect any miracles, but I would urge all people on these boards to view the BBC Rugby League pages and if you get a pop up questionnaire please fill it in and let them know what you think about their site / coverage of the game / profile etc. It can't do any harm to let them know and maybe just maybe they'll take some of it on board.

People sympathising with and supporting Randian politics is the problem, ie you.
It doesn't matter what the Koreans are doing. It should never be a race to the bottom, and expecting British workers to compete with foreign workers is just that. There would never be any progress made if we didn't do things because workers elsewhere don't do it, and businesses are threatening to throw their dummy out because of it. It's also a fairly inaccurate picture you paint, as there's no evidence that union workers, British or otherwise, are unproductive. That's a myth used to justify the greed and immorality of big business.
Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Belgium are the most heavily unionised countries in the world. They're doing okay for themselves. Japan is the most unionised in Asia. They do okay for themselves, too. Particularly by Asian standards, workers do well.
It's unfair to blame unions and union workers for the downfall of British industry. Unions were never the problem. The problem was that we had an out of control free market fantasist running our country.

I was never an employee of any company whose picket line I refused to cross. It's a question of morality and solidarity, not who pays the wages

A trade union is only as strong as its members. If you want higher wages, more secure employment, less accidents and better health and safety provision, representation and support in all employment matters, free legal advice and support... join a union and get involved! Tough times for people now. Unions are needed more than ever.

| I wonder just how many will be cheering if this bunch of incompetents (government not the RFL) do actually manage to repatriate some of our laws from Europe? The main laws they're interesting in taking back under British control are those involving labour. So how happy will people be when they discover that they no longer get paid sick leave or paid holidays, that maternity leave is funded solely by the mother, the WTD has been abolished and employment tribunals are a dim & distant memory?
