Neil Fox was a prolific try scorer as well as a great goalkicker, even with the heavy leather ball.

I think his record will stand for a long time, and if it doesn't I would like to see who would break it.

One cracking player, however i do remember one incident involving Neil Fox.

Way back in the mists of time when Keighley usually got stuffed by 40 + ( 3 points for a try back then) they actually beat trinity at Lawkholme Lane 7 -2.

A certain Mr Fox tried to kick a penalty goal directly in front of the posts and actually knocked the corner flag down.

Talk about slice!!!!

Next game against trinity was service as normal, a 40 point thrashing.

I'm sure he is a nice guy but PERSONALLY (and that means it's just my opinion) I couldn't really see what all the fuss was about.

To be fair I've never seen him live, so I can't comment.

County Cups, Floodlit Trophy, JPS, Challenge Cup, League games (30+?) Premiership/Top 16 play-offs, County games, international tournaments - Tours, World Cups, etc. And we hear today that players play too much football. Fox scored his points the hard way. A legend whose total will never be over-taken.

Cant see it ever being beaten, I doubt any player will play for 20 odd years these days at first team level. Look at Cunningham , when he retired his body was pretty much shot, Scully and Farrell too - classic examples of players who started out very young at first team in modern Rugby.

Quite right. Fitness demands are much higher than they were. and the pace of modern RL does not allow players to take it easy, although, having said that, props and hookers are continuously rotated.

also very unlikely that anyone with that amount of talent would be kicking his heels in mediocreleague. nowadays would be snapped up by yawnion and would become world famous for ice skating or something like that.

It's not just the fitness , the increase in speed of the game means collisions are harder and more frequent.

Read his Biography, when on tour they used to play 3 sometimes 4 games in a week, and I know the game is different now regarding fitness levels etc. however treatment for injuries is much better also. I once played against Neil when he was coaching at Underbank, the best day of my life.
