So all SL clubs suddenly have 2 more non-fed places.

I've heard as of next season you are allowed 7 non fed players. However the quota remains at 5. If this is what the changes to SL in 2015 are gonna do then we are taking 1 giant step backwards. I know my club have utilised loopholes etc in the past but we are starting to see youngsters come off our production line and next season sees our overseas contingent fall by another 2. Increasing the non fed allowance will potentially throw all that good work out of the window.

So, we’re going down to twelve teams where half the team could be from down-under.

So this is the master plan to nurture home grown talent in the future?

The way things are going, the only time we’ll get to see the England players will be at W.C’s & on Premier Sports.

That is such a backwards step its untrue! Should be going the other way.... Funnily enough there been no big news item on the rfl website to let us know the thinking behind these backwards steps...maybe thats because certain chairmen/owners havent written it for the rfl yet?

This all smells like a compromise with a certain Dr over the SC increase he wanted.

i watched him play for the broncos and he didn't disappoint and no shoulder charges so i am confused as to why they are releasing him, unless the Dr is paying over the odds.

It just seems that no one else is clamoring to buy any overseas players but Salford. He asked for an increase in the SC and was turned down. Next thing you know, he announces earlier this month, 6 non-fed players and another today. I wouldn't be surprised if it was pressure from the Dr to increase the non-fed allowance.

Also I don't know what you mean with regards to Hull KR's track record although as soon as the Chairman found out, he was on a plane to Melbourne to try and get Smith, Slater and Cronk on board for 2014

The Dr is the pantomime villain at the moment. As a Salford fan, I don't really care what others think of him, all I know is that after decades of mediocrity, he's giving us a fighting chance of raising ourselves out of it. Whether it works or fails does not matter. We were a week from not existing until he arrived. If it crashes and burns we've lost nothing. Everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Anyone who thinks the RFL will do the Dr favours seriously needs to ground themselves in reality.
