I think FC United get 6k crowds in the 5th tier of English football. If Man Utd collapse i suspect many would switch allegance to them.

| Brilliant result for the Crusaders! Very poor for Salford, poor crowd, poor stadium, poor performance, all in all not looking too promising for Salford this season. Roll on Barton!

Not going to happen. Glaser reckons that they might be forced to sell Old Trafford and rent it back. But the sale price of Old Trafford would huge. It's the second largest stadium in England.

The RFL debated whether to go to 12 teams from 14 recently, they certainly aren't going to go to 16 teams unless there is new money on the table.

I don't know why Salford play on a friday night. Surely it would be better for them to KO on a Sunday. I can't imagine their crowds have benefited with the Friday night home matches. What are the opinions of Salford fans on this.'"
The fans are split. I am not a fan of Friday rugby at all but the official line from the club is that they make more money from the corporate side than they would by playing on a Sunday.
The crowd last night was poor and there is a real apathy amongst the Salford public at the moment. Lack of faith in the coach and the ongoing complications surrounding the new stadium that was meant to be built 5 or so years ago are two of the many frustrations. I fear the floating fans will stay away from the Willows this season and retaining us in Super League would be a controversial decision as rival clubs have stronger arguments for inclusion.

Yes except there would only be one interested buyer , so basically Old Trafford is worthless , the Glazers would effectively be selling it to themselves
Only other potential buyer would be the owners of Man City , so they could charge Utd 100 million a year rent , I'm sure that would work out well

| With the fact the guys at man city wrote off the debts for fun I'm sure they buy old Trafford and knock it down in a mass celebration for the city fans now that is a party I'd love to be at!

The Salford Council are borrowing £20 million to fund the stadium.
as well giving Salford £350,000 to keep them going till its built.

I dont think MU will fail for a second, but there would a queue of firms wanting to buy Old Trafford guaranteed massive rents for ever, with the tennant constantly pay for upgrades themselves, a landlords wet dream

But only one tenant wanting to use it , and that tenant losing money every year , eventually they could not afford to play there
This type of sell stadium and rent back has only worked in Spain where clubs have sold to councils and then the councils either letting the club use it rent free , or giving it back to the club
United are in a very bad place at the moment

They are but let's be realistic. Manchester United are one of the biggest brands in the world (not just biggest sporting brands). The idea that they could go to the wall without some Sheikh or Japanese multibillionaire picking up the pieces is ludicrous.
They are only losing money because of Glazer's debt. If the worse came to the worst and they went bust and reformed then they wouldn't owe that debt any more.

I would suggest that the people who own Elland Road (whoever they are) would disagree with you.
