| Kear for me.
Morgan's a very very close second.
But wakefield have a paper thin squad really and they've actually been pretty consistent all year. In previous seasons they've fallen off and dipped badly by seasons end but this year they look as strong at the business end as they did at the start, had periods of squad decimation too.

Kear did do an awful lot when we were very low on numbers, and morgan has done well this season with HKR.
but...
Nathan Brown has taken a huddersfield side who were no more than mid table/average joe...
he added a touch of class in brett hodgson and coached the rest of the squad from average joe to cup finalists and being firmly pasted in the top 4 with a very real chance of winning the grand final. all within his first 10 months of being in the job. That is a hugely significant turnaround.
Very few, if any, expected huddersfields turnaround to come so quickly. They havnt changed much, only their coach, and it shows it.
Compare Hudderfield under brown to leeds under tony smith - both coaches improved both sides, but nathan brown has taken huddersfield further up the improvement ladder in a much shorter space of time.

Yes I see what you mean, Leeds only won the Super League under Tony Smith in his first season in charge

| Clearly a good coach although Huddersfield would have most likely shown some improvement with the departure of Jon Sharp. Perhaps he should be given some credit.

| Hudds had a shocker of an 08, they were always much better than that IMO
Kears worked miracles and Morgan's achievements when you think about it, dont forget KR are above Hudds, are unprecedented at this level.
Morgans squad isnt as good as Browns either and Brown was well and truly outcoached on saturday. Had he won saturday, different story.

| Brown by a country mile.
10th to 4th and a CCF + a massive improvement on points difference.
Interesting that no one predicted this level of success at the start of 09 but now some claim it was almost ' inevitable'.

Perhaps you should find another forum if you want to write about impotence.
No one predicted our elevation to 4th and a CC Final. They knew who was in our squad and who the new coach would be.
Brown delivered significant improvement that no other coach gets anywhere near in 09.

| You weren't far off the mark in 08, It's just Catalans, Bradford Wire and Wigan showed up for more than half a season. Hull Kr's has been the far larger achievement.

If you need to pretend HKR made bigger improvements 08 - 09 than the Giants then go ahead.
I am used to the excuses offered for the Giants improvement (the opposition played poorly / did not turn up is a very popular one).
The jounalists who make the decision on coach of the year almost universally predicted 10th/11th for the Giants. Some said HKR would be in the GF (they may be). The Giants have far exceeded the judges expectations so Nathan is in a strong position.
Feel free to come up with further reasons why someone other than Nathan should be coach of the year.

I would go for Brown over Morgan (assuming we don't get to the GF!), but his acheivements look so much greater due to the fact that Huddersfield had such a dire coach last season and were under-performing for most of 2008.
Tony Smith could get a look in for finally gelling Wire into a team.

Thats exactly what I meant.
You were also a typical Brown team in the final, choked, completely.
Ive already stated, depending on how they deal with the first couple of weeks in the playoffs it should be Kear for what he's done with that paper thin squad.

And yet when we got to the Playoffs in 07 everyone was saying we had overperformed.
Brown only made one real signing thisseason and that was Todd Carney. All the other players were brought by Sharp and had been signed prior to Brown taking over. ( we had been after Hodgson for two years).
Brown has taken someone elses team and with very few of his additions has made them into a very good tea.
The best example of his coaching is the league table. Look at the points conceded column and that is wher Browns coaching shows up.

I'd suggest thats because of two things.
1st, he is looking to keep good ties with the people he employs.
2nd, he says to fatty "Do this, this and this" and fatty waddles over and does what Brown told him to do.

And Huddersfield yet might! they stand a as good a chance as anyone.
Tony Smith to Leeds from a top 3 side to a champion side....
Nathan brown isnt far off from taking a bottom half side to a champion side in the same amount of time.

| Tony Smith season in charge)
Hull KR: TOTY (constantly consistent throughout the season and making steady progress up the table)
Morley: MOS (runs his blood to water with every performance for us and deserves this achievement)
Tomkins: YPOTY (although he's a pesky little **** he has been the stand out young player in super league this year

Who did he beat? It's not like he trumped Saints or Leeds. Brown is COTY or Morgan not Smith.

True enough, although I don't think you could rule out Noble or Kear with the same proviso.
