| Interesting to see a couple of Wiganers have Clarke as their hooker. Do you reckon Clarke was better than Mark Smith?

We're struggling at stand off and in the threequarters but the pack is a match for anyone.

At Wigan, I'd say Smith was the better player.
Away from Wigan, Smith decided to play his career at at Widnes with the majority of it being in NL1 which was a bit of a waste IMO. Where as Jon Clarke has competed generally pretty well through his time in Super League.

That would have been my take on it as well. I remember Smith looking a really good prospect when he was coming through behind McCormack and Newton but he didn't get many games. It was inevitable he was going to move on and he did look good quality in a weak Widnes SL team, probably the fact they got relegated and he stayed with them, meant he disappeared off the radar.
Clarke is one of those players who seems to be respected within the game (ie coaches and other players seem to rate him highly) more than he is respected on the terraces. He's fit and strong and his workrate is high, and his defence is good. If he'd had the speed out of dummy half that Higham has I reckon Clarke could have been up with the best.

Elima played once against Salford (?) and scored on his debut.
As for Gledhill, don't think so.

Poor. Shows exactly why Salford have made these recent signings opposed to their own academy/reserves.

Looks to have a good future, runs the ball in well, tackles hard and has lots of enthusiasm.
In pre season friendlies in the last few years he's put a few sl props on there a*se, did stosic the other year.
Got a twin in the hudds academy team too who can hopefully step up.

But has played at Cas longer and has come through the ranks at Cas.
If a player played 1 month at one club in their academy and got released but then played three years in another club's academy, wouldn't you say he's the second club's player? I would.

Yeah, I would. Sorry, I didn't read the OP properly, I thought they didn't count if they signed from another team's academy. My bad.

Yes I know that! My point is that isn't he from Dewsbury or somewhere, and came straight into our first team, hence Wigan isn't his "Origin" club?
