| Quote ="Starbug"It is impossible to compare the so called ' quality ' of games with the constant changing of the rules and the interpretation of rules we have
As for the Crusaders beating Leeds , well , it's not unusual for a team full of Aussies to win on English soil is it , they are basically Gateshead Thunders mark 2 , and could quite easily go the same way as the original'"
The Crusaders squad (from a rough look an on certain encyclopaedic website)
consists of.......
Wales 10
Australia 10
England 3
New Zealand 2
Malta 1
PNG 1
Samoa 1
Make of that what you like. But ten Welsh players playing in the top division can only be good for their international side.

| Quote ="Barry_McKenzie"Serious question.
What does this say about the calibre of English Superleague teams when a newly formed side consisting of unwanted Aussies, old age pensioners and rejects from other SL clubs look like they might make the play offs???
Is SL really this bad?'"
Serious answer, no SL isn't that bad. What you have with Crusaders is Brian Noble, as a coach he has specialised in orchestrating Leeds defeats.

| Damo, did you even go to the game?
I was there. We were awful. Poor passes and dire ball retention was our main problem, as has been the case throughout.
Credit where credit is due though, well played the Crusaders, had an opportunity and took it well!

Very true - Brian Noble and John Kear are both examples of coaches who can spot the smallest of weaknesses in any team and then build up their own teams self-belief to a point where, more often than not, they win - what is inexplicable is why their respective teams cannot do it every week ?
Both Noble and Kear have enabled their teams to dominate Leeds at the play-the-ball over several seasons, move up quickly, get in their faces and don't give them the opportunity to throw the ball around, its really simple stuff but it works every time.

So that suggests its not really down to Brian noble at all its down to Leeds playing badly?

Well obviously it's both isn't it.
Had we played as we are capable of, we'd have beaten Crusaders regardless of their gameplan and tactics. Simple as.
But we were poor and Crusaders, to their and Noble's credit, got it spot on.
Lets move on, bring on Wire.

You have got Warrington next week?
ah.........
If your team can't beat a side like Crusaders (at Leeds) then I shudder to think what will happen against a half decent side like Warrington

Not always Jonny.
But you would have to think if a side like Leeds can't beat a side like Crusaders... at home... then a side like Warrington will give them a good flogging.
But RL is a funny old game Jonny.
We can never tell can we.

| Quote ="gutterfax"correct....but it was an error in the timeline/use of english........not a mathmatical error
..if so, how many overseas players to HKR have then? Easy to tar the whole post with the same brush you allude to above.......exactly how many non-english players are on the HKR books and in comparison, how many other ESL clubs have more?
...really? The Harlequins Team you hammered on Sunday is the most English team in the league....oh how ironic is that after 10 years of being called a team full of aussies
.....I'm still none the wiser....exactly how many overseas players do HKR have on their books?
.....agreed...although Quins nearly nilled leeds last year on their own patch........and come october it was business as usual for both clubs....one group of players on holiday, the others handing Saints their butts AGAIN. Well done Crusaders....I doubt you will make the 8, but you are by no means the worst team in SL....a great improvement on last year

Excellent progress from harlequins there. 8 home grown players playing yesterday bodes well for the future.

| I've a question for Gutterfax -
of these english players that quins have brought through, how many different amature clubs are they from? How big is the "grassroots" network that breed these young london players?
I ask because if its widespread then, given the size of greater london compared to traditional RL towns and cities, there's potentially a big pot of players down there to be looked at. Wouldn't it be something if northern clubs were regulary sending scounts down south in search of talent.

7-11's this weekend-fairly well spread out
Wests appears to be the focus area as it is close to the ground
LMS and Clubb are from Grenwich, Krasniki Wests, O'C West, Bolger is at Reading Uni I believe
We have about 22 on the scholarship signed up to Quins. Jonesy who runs the development programme (mentioned on Boots n All last night scouting in the midlands) belives he knows of every player in the south who has the talent to make it-his words

This is for your sake.
You are a very troubled man. You had an awful childhood, you have never been loved, and you never will be loved. You don't deserve to be, you made a choice in life and now your only fleeting satisfaction is from occassionally exacting negative reactions from people, since you know you are incapable of exacting positive ones. It must be hard to get up in the morning, being you.
People on these forums have so much unconditional love in their lives, which you will never have yourself, and you are powerless to change that in the slightest - although, poor you, you evidently try your pathetic best.
You are a middle-aged, fairly intelligent, disturbed man, living a pointless existence. You are the victim of a very disordered mind, and you will likely be incarcerated in an asylum for this - although you already are, and forever will be, incarcerated in the prison of your own depressed, disordered, defective mind.

If you are to believe our coach....then there are scouts from many teams on the M62 who now have a copy of a london A-Z in their cars.....and they have been seen at games scouting young SE talent....
