Yeah....coz the viewing figures for a midnight KO on a school night will be epic



Like Catalans, Toronto will play their games at a fixed time on a fixed day, probably 3pm local time on Saturdays, giving SKY an 8pm KO every second week. If they can take the feed from the mancpacs broadcast partners, then I expect Catalans to be at home one week, Toronto the next, giving SKY Thursday, Friday and Saturday every weekend.

There’s nothing fake about The Toronto Wolfpack. They have massive support in Canada (over 8000 home fans) and many in the UK, like myself, support them as my 2nd club.
Personally I don’t want to hold the sport back just so my club, Leeds Rhinos, have a better chance of success.

Competing in a league with the likes of Wakefield, Leigh, Widnes and Salford is not as appealing as competing in a league with Catalans, Toulouse and Toronto. It’s exciting times for Super League.

If Toronto doesn’t work it doesn’t work. If it does it does. Why the fear and opposition? What better ideas do you have? A Cumbrian merger which isn’t feasible due to the geography of the county?

Why the need to have a dig at those clubs?

Unfortunately as a sport in the UK we lack credibility. Some of that is due to the number of small teams all situated so closely together in largely working class towns. There is still a place in RL for these sides but we need a league represented by the likes of Toulouse, Catalans, London, York, Toronto etc. I hope that if the sport can thrive so can the other teams. Sport is now very closely linked to TV exposure and RU has proven that good TV exposure (at international level in particular) can lead to increased attendances at club games.

I did point out, and quoted Kev doing exactly the same on the same thread 2 pages earlier.

Alas, there is a lot that is fake........starting with their faux attempt last year to discover canadian talent to this years multiple "hook up's" with Canadian Union and their 100% reliance on both thousands of free tickets and a beer festival, not to mention the outlandish claims of attendances when anyone with eyes can see that they are simply lying and repeating the lie until people believe the lie....and they still peddle the 1st Trans-Atlantic Pro sports side.....type "1991 and WLAF" into Google


No they don't. They purchased Facebook likes.....the reality is that they get a dozen comments on their regular posts.....and their twitter feed gets a handful of shares......the attendance claimed at the widnes game was backed up with narrow lens shots of the crowd North American stadium shots from drones and other ariel shots are the norm, but the stands are strangely never shown in a panoramic shot...why wold that be?
Another myth. Many RL fans support their side and won't cross the road to go to away games in the same borough, let alone see an average side replace an another average side whilst delivering NOTHING of value to the sport, either in the UK or anywhere else.

No it isn't. The game needs more than a few thousand curious and beered up canadian fans once a fortnight to bolster its chances of surviving the next decade or so when broadcast rights will become more about the audience than the product and, as was shown when earlier in the year Toronto held events in a local pub for their away games, fewer than 150 people attended....so they stopped posting these events on social media.

Toronto will take £1.8 million from the UK pot should they make SL whilst delivering no value to the game other than a vaguely attractive away day for a handful of fans. No value to our naming sponsor.......no value to our main broadcast partner.....no value to our media/PR departments. They have simply bought 2 championships in the lower level. The "next" North American sides seem to have vanished, with Perez in situ at Bradford and the gym teacher from Huddersfield and his NYC pipe-dream nowhere to be seen. The Denver Test is dead in the water, as USA/Canada 2025 would seem to be....so we have a rich bloke and his team with no youth system, co conveyor belt of new talent, no "failed CFL/NFL stars" in the squad......they are London circa 1995/96......we have a rich blokes plaything which is 100% reliant on his good nature and his good health.
Next year, should they make SL in the next fortnight, SL sides will be forking out £30,000 to get to their away days and will by return expect to see something tangible coming back the other way........if you get drawn in the loop fixtures v Toronto, the play off's and the cup, you could be looking at 4 visits to Toronto...£120,000......you can be damn sure that Ian Lenegan won't be happy with that if there's nothing coming back across the pond

I know a bloke who had 20,000+ posts on these board who got banned for something similar....back in those days posters like yourself and Lebron wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes, but the site owners are reaping what they've sewn and now rely on you 2 and Jean for nearly 1/3rd of their traffic.

Jean does't post on the Catalans, Toulouse, London nor Toronto boards but instead inflicts his expansionist garbage on the VT......
Le Bron hardly ever posts on the St Helens Board whist fewer than 10% of your posts are on the Leeds board......

Unlike you I am known on sight to the Catalans Chairman M. Bernard Guasch. Unlike you I witnessed the game day antics of David Berthezene's grand mother, which only those present at Stade Aime Giral would know of.

I was an attendee at London Broncos games at several different grounds, from the days of Richie Barnett to the days of Thomas Leuluai and Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook. I spoke often with Tony Rea in his coaching days there, as well as the players (which included at one point Tulsen Tollett now of BBC Sports fame, and Sylvaine Houles, now coach of Toulouse). I doubt that you did that.

Unlike you I have had coffee with Richard Lewis and dinner with Carlos Zalduendo. Have you even heard of them?

It's 1 day shy of a Month since Catalans defeated Wire in the CC Final...How may of your posts since August 25th have been on the Catalans board? I'll give you a clue....of the 100 or so posts you've put on these forums since that day, not one of them is on the Catalans Board.

Can you show me four clubs in Super League that are currently profit making or near break even? RL relies on its backers so away fans are vital.

away fans vital? I'm sorry but if a side cannot make enough money by attracting enough home fans through the gate then that is their problem not the away side.

It matters not one iota if Catalan or a Toronto have no away fans at games as it is not there responsibility to make sure the home side gets enough spectators in the ground.
