Don't worry about it, if you have a higher opinion about a certain player or two, you get slated!

Was gonna have a go earlier, but can't say I could have done much better than that mate to be honest! Possibly a bit harsh on Blaymire who hasn't had the best of starts but looked somewhere back to his best the other night, on good form you could easily raise up a couple of points, especially with Murphy looking very good cover.
Shame we haven't got four Tronc's, the guy is absolute class and would be 10 for me with 3 others like him!
Think 7.5 is generous for the hooking role too, possibly a 6.5 for me at the moment, but with Davey looking to have a lot of potential...

I can only assume those ratings are at Championship level. He does state that you wont find better at our level that Gleeson and Penky.
If that squad plyed in super league they'd be down the bottom, no doubt at all.

Last season I thought exactly the same. So frustrating to watch, a lot of knock ons, a lot of dropped catches. And so much pace for sideways runs accross the field. Bizarre.
He is looking more solid this year though, seems to have got the hang of catching, looks more solid with the ball in hand. And is making some decent runs for us.Seems the penny has dropped that sometimes he can just take a tackle rather than making no ground avoiding it.

| Quote ="Mr. Zucchini Head"Hull FC:
Full Back - 8/10 - Tansey has to be one of the candidates for the England number 1 shirt imo and after him we've got the likes of Horne and Whiting who can do a decent job. Young Jack Briscoe is one for the future too.
Wing - 5/10 - Calderwood is a very dependable winger, but other than Reece Lyne and Dennis Tuffour he is the only genuine winger in the squad. As good as Briscoe and Hall are they are not wingers.
Centre - 7/10 - If you class Briscoe as a centre then we have good depth in the centres. Yeaman, Hall, Briscoe, Turner, Whiting, all good Superleague centres.
Stand Off - 7/10 - If Richard Horne is at his best he is a very good player, but I hope his recent form continues because we havn't seen him at his best very often since his injury. We've also got Turner, Whiting and Washbrook who will do a decent job there.
Scrum Half - 7/10 - Sean Long is still the master, but we are left pretty thin should he get injured.
Prop - 8/10 - Good blend of power and grafters. O'Meley has been as good as anyone so far this year and Dowes, Cusack, Moa and Radford aren't too shabby.
Hooker - 8/10 - Berrigan can be devastating when at his best, but his consistency can be a problem, Danny Houghton offers alot off the bench.
Second Row - 9/10 - Manu and Lauaki can be and often are devastating, Tickle is also a top player when on form.
Loose Forward - 10/10 - Based on what we've seen so far Fitzgibbon is a machine, getting on but still a world class player. Washbrook isn't too shabby at 13 either.'"
Fullback would be a 7 tops for me, Tansey is nothing special although a lot of our supporters think he is great. I think Whiting did as good a job as Tansey when played there.
Wings i would agree
Centres 6/7 Although good at times defensively Hall/Briscoe are very suspect but excel in attack.
Stand off - Last two games a 7 but season average so far would be 6
Scrum Half - again i agree Long is very hit and miss and always has been.
Props 7 - Good workhorses but apart from Meley no really impact from them, Moa is unproven for now.
Second rowers we have a cracking second row so i agree with that
Loose man - Although Fitz is doing a cracking job he is not a Loose man in my view so would score 8 on that one.

Problem area - mathers, Riley and hicks can all do a job there but none are particularly good (in that positon).
W - 8
Hicks, king, Riley, atkins all plenty good enough there.
C - 8
Bridge and Atkins/King with Grix, Anderson as back up give good options. King sensatonal this yr so far. Bridge underrated.
HB - 9
Myler/briers and then any of Grix, Anderson, Monaghan, bridge, Solomona as cover
PR - 10
Morley and Carvell and then Wood, cooper, solomona, Harrison, Westwood as cover. None better in SL IMO.
HKR - 9
Mick Monaghan - one of top 3 hookers in SL and back up in Higham and Clarke offer good if unspectacular reserve
SR - 8
L Anderson and Westwood offer a mix of beef and stupidity but have been very impressive this year. Westwood, his brain farts aside, is brilliant. Solomona been a revelation too since signing.
LF - 7
Harrison has spent the offseason bringing his other body parts in proportion with his head Size and is huge. Super prospect but not a 13. Grix and V Anderson as safe back up.

| Wigan in my view.
Full Back 7/10
Phelps is a massive improvement on Mathers in attack but questionable in defence. Both Roberts and Richards can revert to Full Back if needed. I would prefer both to Phelps at Full Back to be honest but not at the expense of their current wing strike rate.
Wingers 10/10
Richards has proved to be an immense signing. Not the quickest but he makes up for that with sheer power and ability to cause problems in the air. Roberts, like Richards, had an average first season here but looks reborn this campaign. His try at Warrington, which put Matt King on his a*se, was awesome and he almost repeated it at Bradford. Darrell Goulding has done a good job as back up recently and the fact we have a 25 tries in 17 career appearances back up in Shaun Ainscough at Castleford as well, shows great squad depth. The top four strike rating (i.e tries per game) players in Super League at the moment are those four. Karl Pryce also offers back up
Centres 7/10
Carmont has been a quiet but effective signing whilst Martin Gleeson offers experience. Not much pace their though. Goulding provides back up and Phil Bailey or Joel Tomkins can switch from second row if required.
Half Backs 7/10
Sam Tomkins' kicking game is improving this season to add to his nippy footwork skill. Bit disappointed with Leuluai so far this season. Deacon provides back up and experience but is perhaps showing his age.
Props 9/10
I give it a 9 more for strength in depth. Purely because not many sides in this league could afford to drop Feka Paleaaesina, which Maguire has done (he played in our Under 20s on Saturday). Fielden looks like his pre Wigan self this season and Andy Coley is also looking strong. Prescott & O'Carroll will do a good shift. We have two young props, Ben Davies and Neil Holland, out playing at Widnes and Blackpool respectively as well.
Hooker 6/10
Our weak link for me. Riddell doesn't offer enough. Some say he does good things but I expect more from an import player. Switching Leuluai between 7 and 9 as games progress is a reason he has been disappointing in my view this year. Not seen McIlorum this season yet.
Second Row/Loose Forward 8/10
Joel Tomkins is joint top with Amos Roberts in our message board's player of the season race so far, which says a lot. Love Lee Mossop, great impact off the bench. Hansen and O'Loughlin are immense in defence but not so much in attack. Good back up in Phil Bailey and I've no doubt Liam Farrell will do a good turn if recalled from Widnes. He would have played late last year but for injury.
Squad Depth will play a big part this season and Wigan have plenty in key areas, probably the best in the league. Highlighted by Shaun Ainscough and Feka Paleaaesina being unable to get in the current side. If Warrington lost Adrian Morley long term, or James Graham at Saints, in my opinion they'll struggle to find someone anywhere near Feka's stature and experience in reserve. Massive luxury for us that, which allows Maguire to squad rotate the props and second rowers as the season progresses (he's doing it already). That could be key to being fresh at the play off end of the season. We also have some good kids who have been part of a dominating reserve side in the last two years.

| Just a thought but if these are ratings relative to the competition shouldn't they be out of 14? 1 being better than all the competition, 14 being worse than all the competition. The lowest overall score would then be (arguably) the strongest squad.

Only 10 clubs in each division in the Championship though! We'll stick with 10 for now.
Thanks for everyone who has contributed so far, still to go:
Everyone bar Halifax in Championship 1 and 2
From Super League:
Castleford
Catalans Dragons
Crusaders RL
Huddersfield
Hull KR
Salford

It's just that even for Championship clubs, these are just marks out of ten for each position. If it's rating positions relative to the opposition it ought to be...We've got he best FullBack = 1 the 5th best Right Wing = 5 The worst Loose Forward = 10 etc.
Interesting anyway.

TBH I don't think he is. The problem we have is if you included the coaches score (Agars would be around the -9 mark) it would create a much clearer picture.

| Huddersfield Giants in my view
Full Back 10/10
With Brett Hodgson reigning MOS and talisman we have probably the best FB in the competition his main compewtition being from Greenshields and Webb. The advantage that we have is that we have Cudjoe at back up he seems to be playing well .
Wingers 7/10
Probably our weakest position. Hodgson occupies one wing and whilst being solid is not spectacular. Cudjoe on the other looks good but with him going to full back we have had to swap players around a bit. Time for on eof the kids to step up and make a mark
Centres 8/10
Whatuira and Lolesi have been excellent this year. Solid in defence and exciting in attack. However it is Lawrence he has caught the eye with his defensive play. I still compare him to Gary Connolly in defence. If he can develop the attacking skills will really kick on.
Half Backs 7/10
Brown has been outstanding at 6. taking on the line and improving his kicking no end. Robinson is playing well but looks more like a hooker at 6, quick braks, runs from Dummy half rather than an organising creative no 7. Grix has provided good cover. Brough would improve this position no end.
Props 8.5/10
Losing Mason at the start of the season had us all in a state of panic. We only had 4 props and one was a pumped up second row. But Larne Patrick has been in stunning form. 3 tries in 5 games is a good strike rate. We have Eorl and Griffin which give us plenty of grunt and go forward. My only concern is if we get a few more injuries.
Hooker 9.5/10
I would argue Lunt has been the best hooker so far in SL. With faiumu, Drew and Robinson providing back up we have a variety of styles, skills and back up in this position.
Second Row/Loose Forward 9/10
Gilmour and Fa alogo have been outstanding and seem to be getting better every game. Add in faiumu and Aspinwall we have 4 players who all have made an impact this year. If that is strong enough how will Steven Wild and Danny Kirmond get back in the team.
Squad Depth
We genuinely have a superb squad this year. Not indavidually great players but all of whom play as a team and do not provide a weak link. Never have i seen a Giants team with as much quality in the squad. At the begining of the season we have had Hodgson, Mason, Drew, Wild and Kirmond out injured. 5 first team players yet we have hardly missed them in fact of those only Hodgson would be likely to come back into the team straight away. Competition for places should kep all players on their toes.
Coach 10/10 the best in Sl at the minute.
Chairman 10/10 Ken Davy. had a vision had a plan and is now making it pay.

Reardon, Halley, Kearney, Platt & Sykes can all do a decent job there.
Wing
2/10
Sheriffe can be good, but is error-prone, Reardon needs to learn the positioning, then we only have Platt & Crookes for cover
Centre
3/10
Sykes & Nero aren't the best, but can be good on their day. Platt, Menzies & Crookes as back up.
Stand-off
7/10
Kearney is quality from what we've seen so far and Sykes & Menzies offer good back-up
Scrum-half
10/10
Best in the league backed up by Kearney, L'Estrange & Sykes
Prop
9/10
Lynch & Scruton are quality, Hall, Kopzcak, Sculthorpe are solid and two Burgess's and Crossley & Lilycrop coming through.
Second row
8/10
Langley is one of the best in the competition, as is Hall. Good youngsters coming through (Whitehead, Tate, Olbison) Shame we have Worrincy though
Loose
7.5/10
Menzies has experience and that touch of class, whilst James Donaldson is a star in the making.
Hooker
8/10
L'Estrange is solid, and is a crafty bugger at the ptb. Godwin is one of the best at running at tired defences and giving a lift to the pack. O'Brien & Horton to back them up.'"

| I'm sorry but if we're all seeing how high we can up the wall for our respective clubs then if Tony Smith can get Warrington to actually defend and win games more than they lose them then surely he is the best coach knocking about.

| Quote ="Bilko"Hansen and O'Loughlin are immense in defence but not so much in attack.'"
A good analysis of our side up until this point Bilko. Sean O'loughlin is the most creative loose forward in Super League. So far this season he has seven try assists to his name which is joint top with our own Sam Tomkins and Huddersfield bound Danny Brough. It's a fantastic effort from a loose forward. Last week against Hull FC he setup four tries for us. Lockers has always been a clever attacking player and is not just a workhorse like some supporters and sections of the media make him out to be. Sure his defence is awesome, but he is just as good in attack. I admit he has got better as the years have gone on, but it has always been a part of his game IMO. I think that the legacy of Andy Farrell, coupled with the fact he got a lot of responsibility as a young captain placed on him, I think people have subsequently overlooked this part of his game and he has just been an easy target to place some of the flak on when other players aren't pulling their weight around. Now that Lockers is in a better team, certainly the media, are starting to take a bit more notice of his efforts and maybe gradually certain supporters will. The GB/England selectors have always picked him and Radlinski mentioned him in his book as being a very clever player and says that he doesn't deserve some of the stick he has recieved from our supporters (not getting at you here). I'll get shot down for it of course, but Lockers would be a candidate for Man Of Steel IMO if he keeps this form up.

| Keighley
Full Back 7.5/10
George Raynor solid and dependable. Dan Belcher looks an outstanding prospect
Wing 3/10
Not big enough or strong enough for this division. Vulnerable in defence. Lack experience
Centres 5/10
Daley Williams good enough for this level but beyond that they seem to struggle in defence against bigger and stronger players.
Half Backs 8/10
Jonny Presley and Danny Jones make a great combination. Presley great running stand off in the mould of Danny McGuire but struggles in defence due to lack of size. Lacks self belief in his huge talent. Jones scrum half with a really good passing game, however kicking out of hand can be aimless at times.
Props 4/10
Can't fault their effort but only Brendan Rawlins is really big enough to play prop at this level. Scott Law would make good 2nd rower though.
Hookers 6/10
Jermaine Wray is explosive and dynamic. James Feather a good leader of the team. James Haythornthwaite is a very good prospect.
2nd Row/Loose 4/10
Again very committed but lack size for Championship level. Give far too many penalties away.
Squad Depth 5/10
Should our half backs get injured we're really stuffed. We've 3 or 4 youngsters with potential and some forwards in reserve who will do a decent job.
Coach 9/10
Barry Eaton is one of the best young coaches in the game. Has been loyal to the club despite tough financial times and has turned down an offer from another club. He's led Keighley from being one of the weaker Championship 1 clubs to the Championship. New signings don't seem to have improved the squad much, team gives away far too many penalties away in games.
Chairman 8/10
Has only taken over recently but has endeared himself to the fans by being very open and receptive towards us and is taking on board and implementing suggestions made by the fans to improve the club. Some of his own ideas and aspirations could be seen as over ambitious.

Full Back - 4/10 - McGoldrick's positioning and ability to read the attack is about on par with a blind man, but contributes a fair bit to attack. Thompson & Dixon are probably the only backups now Owen is out injured.
Wing - 6/10 - Dixon is one of the best in the league at fielding cross field kicks, Wainwright gives 100% and wins a LOT of penalties, Ainscough if his loan is extended provides natural pace and a very exciting attacking player. Thompson is a back up again here.
Centre - 8/10 - Shenton is England's left centre and has pace to burn, solid in defence, James Evans is strong and very solid in defence. As for back ups, Thompson....again, as well as Widders, Ferres, Clayton, McGoldrick and Dixon.
Stand Off - 9/10 - Rangi Chase is one of the best in the league, and on his day is arguably the most exciting player to watch too, and still only in his early 20's. Back ups here of Thompson....again, Ed Barber, the exciting prospect Ryan Brierley, Dean Widders, Joe Westerman, Ryan McGoldrick and if your name is Terry Matterson, Steve Snitch.
Scrum Half - 4/10 - Brent Sherwin, as good as he is on form, is too injury prone and vastly out of shape, not too much in the way of back ups here, just Chase & McGoldrick.
Prop - 7/10 - Sargent, Huby, Higgins, Jackson, Massey, Walker and Cooper who's in on loan now, plenty of depth and plenty of solid defenders who offer a bit in attack. Snitch can also play here.
Hooker - 5/10 - Hudson is over rated by fans, his distribution is too slow and he doesn't look fit, Netherton doesn't even get picked anymore and the only backups are Chase, Jones and under 20's player Adam Milner.
Second Row - 7/10 - Snitch, Jones, Ferres, Clayton, Holmes, Davies, Widders - solid group of second rowers with plenty of attacking options and some good defensive players too. Cooper and Westerman can also play second row.
Loose Forward - 8/10 - Joe Westerman, the best up and coming loose forward in the country, starting to play like what was promised when he burst on to the scene, looks to be stronger this year, scoring a couple of good trys dragging 3 or 4 defenders with him. Widders, Ferres, Jones, Clayton, Davies can play here, as can Ryan McGoldrick, if your name is Terry Matterson.
Coach - 2/10 - Matterson is the epitome of clueless, the team are one dimensional and if you can get into their faces so they can't pass the ball around, they panic and just throw it anywhere, in 4 years defence has been the weak spot, and it still hasn't improved, he's scared to play the youths and he's managed to fall out with at least one player every year. (Blanch, Dyer, Mason, Brough, Faumuina, Boyle, Netherton this year it seems.)
