i take critisism of expansion clubs from people that i think arent biased.

out of the people bagging expansion clubs id say 80% are just jealous

weeding out the jealous/biased fans from people with legitimate concerns is the problem

there are people are always negative on expansion. always.

crusaders occupy a SL spot.

so that makes them the envy of every other club not in SL.

i thought CC was a good risk at the time.

it wasnt the RFLs only mistake. (wakey, salford, widnes)

anytime there is someone who has 1.6 million pounds to invest in an expansion area and a ground ready to go, the RFL should take it.

Not quite right , what I have said is that Toulouse should be in SL rather than be in the Championships , basically because SL can afford to have Toulouse in with them , the Championships cannot

I dont quite think that Toulouse are ready for SL at the moment , but they do have the potential to be a SL club , much more than Celtic had/have

but it seems clear the the south of france is much better than places like ireland, scotland, wales, paris, or virgin RL areas in england

until the games finances are much better it should go to the "easy" expansion areas first.

Not sure this is the right thread but it's been confirmed the two games that Crusaders will play in South Wales will be Harlequins on Good Friday and Bradford on 12th June. Everyone else will visit Wrexham.

other than the Sky TV grant, the RFL havent wasted a whole lot of money

smart decision to me.

and RL in wales will be stronger next year with 2 pro clubs.

if leighton samuels loses money who cares? the RFL has basically used his money to try expansion.

It may be his money but its our sports credibility that has been dragged through the mud again. And what about potential investors for clubs, they might see what happened with Smauels and decide not to bother.

Hope they dont get another license. Much rather see Widnes, Halifax or Leigh get a place instead of them.

However, I think I would be good for the sport to have a top flight club from Wales, but if they dont get sorted out by the next round of applications then they dont warrant a place.

Widnes will be in before 2012. End of 2010 they will announce a "merger" between Crusaders and Widnes, with SOME games played at Wrexham but most at Widnes. the team will be called summat like Widnes Viking Crusaders in 2011 and their strip and everything else - apart from most of the players who will be ex-Crusaders - will look startlingly like Widnes. the club will be owned by O'Connor, funnily enough. They will apply for and of course be awarded a Franchise for 2012-14, and in 2012 will play all their games at Widnes and will drop the Crusaders suffix.

Widnes will of course be liaising with Huddersfield and Hull for the gen on how it's done, and any remaining Crusaders fans will be making common cause with the hardy faithful from Sheffield and Gateshead.

The day the FL announce the merger, with their complete blessing, will thereafter be known in RL history as "Groundhog Day".

1. its failed to expand and is a minor sport
2. most of the clubs in its heartlands are s**t.
