| there's a differance between patching up old grounds like we are doing at Craven Park or Dragons, Cronulla, etc are doing, and having a state of the art new stadium with decent seating, views, capacity, facilties etc.
Gold Coast, Melbourne, Brisbane, Newcastle eventually,SFS great grounds. The majority of the rest are semi run down suburban holes with very expensive sticky plasters. Even Parramatta, that is often spoke about as a decent ground, showed its inability to provide fans a decent experience a few weeeks ago. Any conincidence that clubs who play at SFS/ANZ and suburban grounds avg higher attendances at the SFS/ANZ games?

no the suburban grounds arent just patched up.
you need to know what you are talking about
kogarah has had $30 million in it.
like newcastle has been done up kogarah has had massive improvements, so is win stadium
cronulla has a new grandstand meaning it has grandstands on 3 sides
no NRL ground is as bad as craven park.
even brookie is nicer.
SL has cas, wakey, bradford and hull kr in inferior grounds.
its funny you forgot to mention anz stadium, its not as if 2 clubs play there or something

| tbh I don;t rate ANZ for club games, great for finals etc but shocking atmosphere for club games and miles from the pitch due to the low pitch of the seats. when it rains you have to upsticks and move to the back of the stands.

sounds a lot like my experiences of twickenham.
(prepares for rugby union backlash, then remembers they will probably just kick a ball in my general direction then hit the deck and end up engaging in homoerotic wrestling before they get within touching distance of me)

Quote HULL City council has today backed plans to build a new £6.5m north stand for Hull Kingston Rovers at Craven Park.

No...it is an opinion, but because it differs from yours, you have to resort to insults Dally...you're all alone now, don't start trying to be clever....it'll end in tears.
Quote ="dally messenger"rl fans the world over love leichardt oval.'"
Again this "World" thing......you assetain you are the font of RL knowledge, but everything you post is about Australia...not the world. The World is a big round thing, floating in the universe.....Australia is a tiny bit of it.
...more puzzling is the reference to an Australian Stadium in a thread about ESL Licencing criteria and stadium fitness......is it really that lonely on the NRL boards

what hull kr have achieved in SL is fantastic compared to other clubs who promise the world and dont deliver a thing
Hull KR are what the smallest heartland club in SL should be like.
anything below them as a club should hopefully be replaced with better heartland clubs

| It should also be noted that HKR's chairman and board of directors have done exactly what they promised both to the RFL and their supporters. Behind the scenes they have worked tremendously hard both with HCC and partners to the schemes to ensure the upgrade of Craven Park continues.
The loan to build the North stand, is exactly that, and could be repiricated by any other S.L. club or potential S.L. club. Mike and Julie Joyce should also be thanked, they kept on the pressure on HCC collecting the second highest petition ever to be presented to the council.
A tremendous boost for the East Hull community regards re-generation, jobs and the continued upgrade of C.P. and the realisation to the darkside that they still remain as Hull's handout club

Eh?
It says in the article that the council are paying 2/3 of the cost.
How exactly could that be replicated by any other SL club? Our council won't.

The scheme Hull City Council have approved is categorically not being funded by the City of Hull’s tax payers money or from structural budget reductions the Council are finding themselves having to impose.
The monies being used originate from central government set aside to promote regional economic development. All of the money is subject to a pay-back scheme. The pot the money goes back into is then available for other such projects, many of which are operational up and down the country and are integral to the continuance of urban regeneration. The monies in this pot cannot and will not be used to support public services.

So what will the stadium look like after all the works done? This picture pretty much shows me the ground the last time we (Leigh) were there, but I know that the East Stand was supposed to be getting done up.

Thanks for clarification. The article was silent about any pay-back.
Out of interest, do you have any more info on this central government "pot", in particular to help indicate if such "pots" may be available eleswhere. Round these parts you get the impression just about everything goes to Leeds.
