my mistake, i was looking at the crowd vs hudds which was poor
4883 is still a very poor crowd though and not good enough for a SL club in the heartlands

| I wouldn't be so downbeat about that tbh.
There's only so many you're going to get at Belle Vue, no offence but it really is a terrible ground.
So wheres all the stats and average this week JB?

Wakey will do a warrington when they get the new stadium. Loads more families will be able to go and more old people. Plenty more away fans will also be attracted. It really is the worst ground in super league and no doubt keeps alot of people away.

| The crowd was poor and BV is partially to blame but not completly. Just under 10k came to watch against Leeds and there will be a similar number for the next home match. The big games sell themselves but the perceived less attractive matches are where
Trinity come unstuck.
Personally i don't think enough is done in the run up to a match. I've said before the only evidence of a game taking place are a few trailers dotted around the city advertising the match.
This needs to change. Someone once posted on here that you have to keep selling the game to the public. Doing nothing and expecting people to turn up will only lead to one thing.

| it will be interesting to see if wakey do end up averaging 7000
assuming cas maintain their average i cant see the RFL kicking out a club that averages 7000 and has reasonable on field form, crap ground or not
then i think it will be 16 teams being current lot + widnes and toulose / paris

Cas have averaged 7500 for the last 2 seasons, and the attendances are up on corresponding fixtures last year. Having two of your first 3 home games on tv does not help attendances.

| I have thought and posted before that I think Wakey could add a good couple of thousand on their average gate at a new ground. The place is, I am sure we all agree, the worst stadium in SL and it does not have any real cover for standing spectators, a bigger issue than you might think, especially for away supporters!
You can clearly see some both home and away supporters not wanting to turn-up to Belle Vue if it is raining or has forecast rain. Couple this with poor views for spectators in general, especially kids, poor facilities and amenities and not a 'modern' family friendly environment and I think there is the answer to poor gates in a big catchment area.
I think that Wakey will indeed do another Warrington if/when they move to a new home.

=#8000FFThey could add more to the attendance now if they stopped charging £20
but I'd expect Cas & Wakey to have a Warrington like increase in attendance (40% or something?) which would take the average for Cas over 10k.

Hudds haven't brought anything over 1000 other than for the 2007 play off game. Hull have 9200 season ticket holders. I can't see 5000 walk ups on the night. Personally I think 14000 will be a decent enough gate.'"
Probably because they gave away 3,000 freebies for both the Harlequin and Bradford game. Speculation on the hull site is because their P&O sponsorship ends at the end of this season and bigger crowds would help pulling in another sponsor.

Hull FC did not give any tickets away for the Bradford game. They had an offer with junior amateur clubs to sell tickets for the match at a reduced rate and earn a commission for their clubs for doing it. I would estimate that no more than 400 people took up this offer as it was for the South Stand only, which is already at over 80% of capacity with season ticket holders.

The Quins game at the KC has for the last couple of seasons a game where the Hull Management has given out 3000 free tickets to local schools. That and teh Catalans game are easy ones to do it for as the away end is not used and the free tickets are all for the North end.
There were no free tickets for the Bradford game

The tickets were reduced to £10 for adults and £5 for kids. I think you'll find the same price your lt charge for the south stand every week

| Sorry, but so far this year Hull FC and Warrington have reacted to the visit of Quins with some really clever ideas and promotions. Wire got more for the game v Quins than the game v Bradford or Crusaders. They also did something last year which resulted in Quins being their 3rd best gate after Saints and Wigan. Hull FC have the best marketing team in SL IMO and more clubs should be trying to emulate them.
When you know you are having a badly supported team visit it is up to your club to do something about it....the only time I can recall when the away fans really marketed a game was when Castleford put on a fleet of free coaches to London...a brilliant idea but not financially viable.
Who cares if Hull give away free tickets? They are already paying the stewards, the bar staff etc.....why not maximise pie sales and maybe get some new fans into the bargain?

The Gentleman who is assisting with the marketing at Trinity is a real pro and fully understands the "family" values of the game. Once Trinity have a new stadium I believe they will average around the 10k mark......but they need to start putting bricks on top of each other pretty sharpish.

| Agreed Gutterfax, I've thought all along that Trin has the potential to double their current attendances in a new ground. As far as I know it won't be long before said bricks will be brought down to Newmarket.

You will probably find its those who are envious of our following who seem to be bothered.
As you say, when there is a visiting team which will not bring any more than a mini bus worth why not utilise the facilities.
Hull did the same thing for the quins game at the end of last season. The result was a 15k attendance in our worst season in 10 years.
