| England didn't deserve to win because they bottled it in the second half.
The Aussies were there for the taking and England bottled the opportunity of a lifetime.
Was it a try at the end? I was as convinced as Ryan Hall was.

| You cannot remove a Johnathan Thurston, a Jarryd Hayne, a William Slater, and even a Brett Morris from a team and expect it to perform at the same level without them.

None of the HBs were outstanding but the other 3 all ran with the ball. It's like watching Paul Deacon without the kicking skills.

I agree, gutting.
Who is accountable though? The coach for me. Surely Mcnamara should have been hammering home the fact that one more try and they were gone. but no, it was like we thought we could hang on and sit on an 8 point lead for the full 40 against thay lot.played with fire and we got burned big time.

That's a yes then.
I commented at the time that Charnley's attempt at catching that bomb was poor but the rest of his game was fine. Watkins didn't exactly shower him with opportunities did he?

| Wasn't this England pack (front row in particular) deemed to be superior and was going to steamroller that all time weak-as-p!ss Aussie forward lineup?

Never really fooled by that one.it is our strongest area for sure, but the Aussies are never weak in the forwards although they are weaker this time out for the loss of a few front liners. The likes of Woods and Thaiday stepped up on last week and they certainly held there own helped by an awesome Cameron Smith who ran the show at times and creates so much time for his pack.
That said, although they didnt bulldoze the Aussie frontrow, Hill,Burgess and Graham all had very good games.

James Graham played his heart out. He was fantastic. It was the English second row which was not dominant, and the weak links.

Charnley isn't TOTALLY reliant on Watkins. He had the ball plenty of times on kick returns. Offered precisely nothing.
And before you bash Watkins. He scored. And looked genuinely dangerous. Even if his concentration in defence is not 100%.
Contrast Charnley with his opposite for England. No contest.

I'm fed up.
Same crap, different day/week/month/year/decade/decades.
The ted majority will blame the ref, the Aussie ref, the Aussie video ref and Aussie cheating because defeat is so much easier to digest that way. Fifth f****** decade of defeat after defeat after defeat after excuses after excuses after excuses.
That ordinary Aussie team tried pretty damn hard to lose today and England still weren't good enough to take advantage.
Who is accountable? Over the last 40 something years, a hell of a lot of people.
There's no excuse for being gutless when it was there on a plate.

It can't be justified in any shape or form by the Australian picked officials. It's corrupt and until the Australian corruption of International RL is stopped the sport will remain small time. Whether it's handpicking officials, deciding which rules and interpretations are to be played, taking players from Pacific island nations, Australian/NRL insularity etc Australia are the biggest roadblock to International expansion.

The Charnley drop mattered little in the end anyway as he was getting driven over the line anyway. I've not read all the way back but I can't believe we're having a go at individuals and points scoring again.
Three reasons we lost that game and they were-
1-We went too far in to our shell and that lack of belief against the Aussies can't be broken. That was a team thing not any individuals fault.
2-The referee killed us in the second half. The Aussies were lying around and sticking hands in at the play the ball yet we get penalised. There was a high tackle in the movement where Charnley got a bit of space down the right when Ferres patted the ball back and the worse one was the win at the scrum! Our ball all day long.
3- The big one! That is a try for Hall. I don't care if it's Superleague rules, NRL Rules or make belief rules! The ball is on the floor and there has been downward pressure on the ball. It's a shambles of a call and brings the international game in to disrepute. The decisions before the game and during it shouldn't be allowed to happen. The Aussies have every advantage under the sun yet still take more and they're allowed to because they call the shots.
Sad day for the game.

| I hope we kick up a fuss about this because if it was them they would refuse to play again if it wasn't rectified!
However we are gutless and will just accept it as usual like with the ref issue this past week.

I don't think it had anything to do with the Aussies because we were the same against Samoa last week. Because we've been like this two weeks on the trot I suspect a conservative game plan from our coaching staff.

The referee was always going to do that IMO. He's a home ref. He's not going to give us a sniff in the second.

And they call the shots because we allow them to. We have McBanana now saying he wasn't sure whether it was a try. The man should be kicking up a fuss. Pushing for questions to be asked, etc, etc. The RFL should be kicking up a fuss. Anything to show we have stones and will no longer be licking the backsides of Australia.
